Shamakhi
On the way to Gabala we will pass by Shamakhi region. Shamakhi is one of Azerbaijan’s most historic cities and the birthplace of legendary Azerbaijani poets such as Sabir and Nesimi. Invaders and earthquakes have left little in the way of an old town but the city’s Juma Mosque was one of the first to be founded in the Caucasus and, in rebuilt form, is truly splendid. Then the capital of the legendary state of the Shirvanshahs, Shamakhi was destroyed by a terrible earthquake in 1192. In the 19th century, the city was famous for its Shamakhi dancers, who were described in the memoirs of French writer Alexandre Dumas.

I had a fantastic trip to Gabala - Tufandag, and Kamal was the perfect guide. From the first booking to the pick-up to the drop-off, everything was efficient and well-executed. The mountains offer breathtaking views, the Juma Mosque is austere and grand, and I enjoyed riding a pedal boat in Nohur Gol. The Seven Beauties Waterfall may not compare in size with its cascading sisters Niagara and Victoria, but it has its own charms! This was a wonderful getaway from the hectic rush of the city, and I highly recommend the excursion.

Our trip to Gabala was awesome !!! Valeh and Ali both were just great at handling everything !! They made sure everything was in place, also suggested good places for dinner, lunch and munching. Every major tourist destination was covered. Over all a great deal !!

First we had a short refreshing break at the nohur lake, after that we visited gabala's archeological museum. It was amazing to see the new excavation sites and how this country is redescovering the magic of its own past while being surrounded by the unparalleled beauty of the mountains.
