Peneda-Geres National Park

Peneda-Gerês National Park is the only national park in Portugal and is located in the northwest part of the country, in the Minho region. It was established in 1971 and covers an area of approximately 702 square kilometers. The park is characterized by its stunning natural landscapes, including mountains, valleys, rivers, and forests. It is known for its rich biodiversity, being home to numerous species of flora and fauna, some of which are endemic to the region. The diverse ecosystems found in the park range from oak and pine forests to high-altitude moorlands. Visitor will experience some hiking trails , including an ancient roman road and beautiful landscapes such as waterfalls, lakes and valleys. Also, visitor will have around an hour to have lunch at Gerês Village at a traditional restaurant (not included)

The Geres Tour with our guide Juan was an absolute highlight of our stay. He showed us all the special features of the national park and it was a great mix between exploring by car and short walks, as well as inside facts about the area. Absolutely recommend! Thanks Juan :)

The national park is overwhelmingly beautiful and Juan our Guide knew a lot about this area. Hiking we passed waterfalls, rivers and drove through the mountains and valleys, with views like we never saw before. An impressive tour that we highly recommend!

It was a fantastic trip and it was special because of the mix of hiking and driving around. In one day you will see a lot of the park. We’ve got a lot of information about the national park that we would not know otherwise. After today we love Portugal even more🤩🇵🇹 Juan knows his ways around here and shows you other places than only the most famous ones. It is easy to join this trip with a good normal condition or for children.
