My Son Sanctuary
This tour is a must-see for those who are interested in architectural and ancient civilizations. My Son sanctuary was an important religious center to the Cham Royalty during the Champa civilization that used to exist in the central Vietnam, between the 4th and the 15th centuries. We travel about 50km from Hoi An to My Son sanctuary. This complex comprises many Champa temples and towers, located in a roughly two square kilometer valley. It was the site of religious ceremony of kings of the Champa civilization and was also a burial place of Champa royals and national heroes. The My Son temple complex is one of the foremost temple complexes of Hinduism in South East Asia and is the foremost heritage site of this type in Vietnam. Though the complex has been destroyed over time, war, natural disaster, we still see many majestic ancient ruins of temples in the area.

We were booked on this tour. Our tour guide was incredible. Older generartion but had really incredile stories as was a walking google of information of My Son. From the moment they picked us up. All through the tour the information and knowledge was awesome. Even knows how to really work a smart phone to get awesome photos. Although the weather was perfect. It was extremly hot. Suggest trying to start as early as possible. It was roughly 1 hour drive from our hotel. The organised drinks on arrival was excellent. The food after the tour at the same location was great but to much for our family to eat. Over all you must do this to get a good understanding of the My Son.

Le was our licensed local tour guide and he was incredible! He is knowledgeable about the history and culture of My Son and the Hoi An area. Le explains things very clearly, cracks jokes to keep the conversations lively, and is happy to answer any questions. Also, he cares a lot for his guests: showing us the best spots for photos, offering to take photos of us, timing the tour to avoid large groups of tourists, and always checking to see how we are doing. We are incredibly fortunate to have had Le take care of us and very grateful for all of his knowledge, jokes, photos, and love. Thank you for making our meeting of My Son unforgettable! P.S. Without a guide, My Son can be hard to navigate and understand what you are looking at.

Our guide Quang was wonderful & very knowledgeable on the history of My Son. On his advice we visited early before it was too hot or busy and viewed the site without a crowd. The history of the Cham people & construction of buildings was very interesting. Throughly recommend tours with Quang he is on WhatsApp quangbeach1983 Quang +84 90 560 94 43

The tour was fun, My Son sanctuary is definitely a place to visit. We got picked up on time, the lunch was delicious and lovely and then we head to the sanctuary as we chose the afternoon option. The guide was super lovely and accommodating, we found it hard to understand some of what he was telling us in the car but it is how the accent is in most of this part of the country. When we were in the sanctuary itself, it became a lot easier cause there weren’t too many context changes so we understood almost everything. I recommend arriving at the sanctuary around 1:30-2 PM, it will be less crowded than the sunrise or sunset Also do miss on the folklore show! They do them a few times a day, make sure you arrive 15-20 mins earlier to watch the show from a nice seat Also another tip, the best photos you can take are when there is a show running cause 10s of people will be at the show.

Thao To was our main guide, but he had a team around him who all combined to made a wonderful experience. First his driver, who safely drove us first to Thao's home for lunch, then to My Son, then back to our hotel. Second, Thao's wife, sister and family, who created a delicious spread of Vietnamese food for us for lunch. (I am going to dream about that morning glory with garlic for months!) Quick mention of the tiny kitten, who gave us a little cat cuddle in-between playing with whatever it could find - leaves, shadows, my bag, etc. So before we ever even reached My Son, we had already had a lovely lunch experience and chat with local people. When we got to My Son, it was clear that Thao was really knowledgeable about the area and the Cham culture. He told us all about the My Son complex's history, architecture, restoration, war damage, and even knew the best angles to take photographs from. Although we didn't have the best weather, we still had an enjoyable tour. I was pleasantly surprised by the Cham cultural display, I hadn't expected it to be so close to Indian dancing.

Would highly recommend this tour! The guide was very informative (both about My Son and Vietnamese life in general), and enjoyable to be around. I felt like we had enough time to see everything I wanted to. The lunch afterwards was possibly the best meal I had in Vietnam. He went above and beyond including helping me with a few things outside the tour too. Overall very happy with my experience!

Thao guided this tour for my husband and I and our 7 month old baby. He worked at My Son for 8 years so you can't find anyone more experienced and knowledgeable than him! His level of English is excellent, the best of any tour guides we had in Southeast Asia, and he is a good conversationalist and spoke to us about many aspects of life in Vietnam, not just the information about My Son. The site is very beautiful and interesting, and Thao is full of facts that bring it to life. His wife prepared an amazing lunch for us with seafood for my husband and vegetarian options for me. We would highly recommend this tour!

So glad I found out about the 6am tour. We had the whole sanctuary to ourselves. Very beautiful and peaceful. Our guide - Thao grew up around the area and we got to see his home and meet his family. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us

Thao was great! He is very knowledgeable and tells a lot about Vietnamese culture, politics and so much more from insider's point of view! We are glad we get to visit the My Son sanctuary and it was definitely worth time and money! You're expected to walk and it's humid there, so be prepared! :) Thao took us to the local restaurant after the tour that is owned by his wife, and it was one of the best home cooked Vietnamese meal we've ever had! Thanks to this experience, we get to see the small village of his town and this was such a cool experience! Thank you again to Thao and his family!
