Travel a short distance East from Edinburgh to Glenkinchie Distillery, which dates back to 1825 and is home to a selection of exquisite single malts from Bourbon American Oak barrels. Glenkinchie proudly serves as one of the Four Corners of Scotland distilleries of Johnnie Walker. They distil the Edinburgh Malt that is enjoyed around the world on its own and as a vital component of Johnnie Walker whiskies. Discover the generous spirit of there garden home where they create their rare Lowland style whisky, evoking fragrant flowers, dried cut grass, and nutty cereal. You can also visit there bar for cocktails, drams, coffees and sharing platters. Tastings and tours are varied and can be booked separately at prices starting from £19 per person. Tullibardine Distillery

Travel North across the Queensferry crossing where you can enjoy a view of the Historic UNESCO World Heritage Forth Railway Bridge, which dates back to 1890. Thereafter, on towards Tullibardine Distillery which dates back to 1949 although history tells us that this very site was that of a Brewery back in the 15th Century, enjoying Royal Charter from the then King James IV of Scotland. The water comes from the surrounding Ochil Hills, drawn from the Danny Burn formed here over 400 million years ago with layers of Basalt and Red Sandstone, these hills are well known for the gold that was once mined from them. The clear water that runs through them took 15 yrs to reach the Danny Burn. In 1979 Highland Spring started using the same water. Tours and Tastings are varied and can be booked separately at a price ranging from £12 per person. Recommend booking in advance once your tour is confirmed.

We had an amazing time with Jim seeing castles, distilleries and the sites of Scotland. He did a great job of listening to what we were interested in seeing and then he added spots that we weren’t aware of. We had a great day! We will definitely use Jim again and we recommend him for your next visit too.

We had a fantastic time on our Speyside Distillery Tour with Jim in July 2024 and we would highly recommend booking a guided tour with Glentarra Scottish Tours. Jim did a great job of curating the 3 day tour that had his visit a diverse distilleries and we were very comfortable being driven around the lovely Lowland countryside in between stops in Jim’s car. Jim provided white glove service during the entirety of the tour and was we look forward to booking a future trip with Glentarra Scottish Tours.

  • Day Tour to the Scottish Highlands with a detour due to a storm cancellation at Loch Ness

This was a wonderful private day tour! Jim offered a great experience that on the fly had to adjust our tour due to gale force winds and a cancellation of our cruise on Loch Ness. It could have been a disappointment, but our tour adjustment was wonderful. We ended up going to Glenfinnan Viaduct (of Harry Potter fame) and it was beautiful as well as the surrounding scenery. We are hopeful to return to Scotland and would love to book another private with Jim and his tour company. My wife and I highly recommend utilizing Glentarra Scottish Tours!!

Jim was an excellent tour guide. My husband and I were not as familiar with what to do in the Highlands and which whisky tours would be best to visit while in Scotland. Jim tailored a two-day itinerary that was great for us. Jim was in constant communication with us prior to our trip and once we arrived. He was prompt, helpful, and informative and made great suggestions. We were glad when he joined us for a walk through the the grounds of a castle in the Highlands as he felt more like a friend on the trip. If we return to Scotland, we will reach out to Jim. We highly recommend Jim!
