Cuenca
From Cuenca we moved to the Cajas National Park to the area of Caballo Shayana, where we said goodbye to our driver. The hike begins in the Laguna de Cucheros (height 3950 meters) Our naturalist guide will accompany us throughout the tour, which begins with a hike for 40 minutes to the blade/ edge (height 4080 meters) from where we observe the valley of Burines (height 4010 m) where there are several lagoons such as Burin grande, Burin chico, Ingañan among others; where we dive into the Andean pajonal while admiring the natural attractions especially the panoramic view of the sector and the canyon where the slope that will feed the Mamamag and Llaviucu lagoons descends.
El Cajas National Park
The route leads us to the Mamamag Lagoon (3500msnm) which combines a walk between streams and a small forest of polylephys, as well as traces of pre-Columbian cultures on the Inca Royal Trail. Short stop to take the box lunch. The trail takes us to an important viewpoint from where we observe the spectacular valley of Llaviucu We continue the journey through the Forest of San Antonio we start the descent towards the forest of Llaviucu, where the landscape changes drastically from pajonal to high montane forest.

The driver was quick to communicate and promptly picked me up at hotel on time. He was very friendly and informative about the country and region. The hike was very nice and the guide at the National Park was engaging, informative, and made for a pleasant hike. After hike we enjoyed a nice lunch then returned back to hotel in late afternoon.
