Rafting is an activity that mixes adventure, emotion and adrenaline. The Rio de las Vueltas offers an ideal setting for this activity.
In its first section, the calm waters of the river allow us to connect with nature and contemplate the beauty of the landscape framed by the imposing Cerro Fitz Roy and its satellite needles, in addition to eventually being able to see local fauna and birds. After having covered approximately 5 kms we cross the first rapid, which the guides call "Portage", after that first rapid begins a succession of rapids of approximately 10 kms, which will cause a lot of adrenaline, fun and will give you the right dose of adventure to an experience that will awaken all your senses and will make you experience Patagonia from a completely different perspective.

What To Expect
It is a rafting experience that takes place in the Río de las Vueltas, a river of glacial origin that is born in Lago del Desierto and flows into Lake Viedma. We start at the Comarka Rafting dome, where the guides will receive the passengers and provide them with the technical equipment. Once dressed, they travel in a van with the guides to the entrance area to the river (5 minutes from the base), where the technical and safety talk of the activity is given. The first section of the river is 6 km of calm and meandering waters, an opportunity to contemplate Cerro Fitz Roy and its satellite needles, the Andean forest, the steppe and eventually native fauna and avifauna, it is the ideal moment to make contact with the raft and practice the rowing and safety techniques explained. The second part advances over the canyon area. After the initial rapid called “Portage”, we will find a succession of class III to III + rapids for 10 km. It is the moment of adventure and adrenaline. Once the descent is finished, a van awaits you to return to the base where you will change and enjoy a snack and a drink to recover energy.

Our lead guide, Lloyd (aka Papacito);), and his incredible team made it a truly top-class adventure, safe, interactive and great fun. 5.00Experience not to be missed, unique opportunity to see the Fitz Roy from magnificent angles, the river with its rapids and 'fascinating and Loli with his children know how to steer the rafts with great attention and sympathy. We had so much fun, but above all we always felt safe thanks to the professionalism of Loli, our guide. A descent suitable for any tourist, even those who are rafting for the first time. Highly recommended!

4.00Very very fun activity with professional guide and even someone with a kayak next to the boat for safety! Very nice experience BUT the guide took some photo’s for which we had to pay 20.000 (16$) extra, which is ridiculous.. This made the experience a little less nice unfortunately.

5.00This River trip was exceptional and the guides were perfecto! We are experienced rafters and give it high grades! The River itself was running 3+ (there was one portion not run @ 5). This is a great trip for all levels and Lalita and Matteo (father/son duo) are very skilled and personable. Great instruction for new rafters. DO NOT BE CONCERNED ABOUT THE WEATHER. All gear is provided at check-in.

5.00I was a bit worried at first—the sky was overcast, the winds were high, and the cold was no joke—but Lolli and his team took exceptional care of us. They provided everything we needed to stay warm and safe: water-resistant pants and shirts, sturdy boots, gloves, helmets, and life jackets. The rapids were the perfect balance of thrilling and calm, making the experience both exciting and enjoyable. I went with my husband and our 19-year-old daughter, and we all absolutely loved the adventure. Lolli and his crew are incredibly well-organized, experienced, kind, and genuinely fun to be around. We highly recommend this unforgettable way to take in the natural splendor of El Chaltén.
