"The neighboring region of La Rioja is characterized by its millenary tradition in the production of wine, which some say comes from Roman times. In any case, it is known that at the end of the 19th century Bordeaux winemakers came to the area, identifying suitable characteristics in its terrain and climate, to begin an extensive production that has made the DO Rioja the most important in the country today in day.
Take advantage of the opportunity offered by this tour to visit two medium-sized wineries in the area (we always try to stay away from crowded groups) and learn the secrets of winemaking. We will also visit the medieval village of Laguardia, on top of a hill, to enjoy a panoramic view of the great plain of vineyards."

9:45 Pick up and departure from Pamplona
11:00 Visit to the first winery and wine tasting
1:00 Visit to the second winery and wine tasting
2:00 Arrival in Laguardia and light meal.
3:30 Departure from Laguardia
4:45 Drop off in Pamplona

5.00We had a fabulous experience with tour guide Alby throughout the entirety of the tour. Alby did a great job coordinating our pickup directly with our hotel, and he kept the conversation and the music lively on our journey to each destination. We also seemed to benefit from the strong personal relationships he's developed with workers from our various stops, as they were eager to please him, which meant that we were very well taken care of throughout the entirety of the experience. While a winter winery tour wouldn't be for everyone, I would definitely say that this tour makes it well worth giving it a go if winter happens to be the only time you can get to Rioja.

5.00The wineries we visited were exceptional and very different from each other. Both were family operations. At one we got a full tour of the production process with views of some of their vineyards. At the other we had a winemaker lead us through the tasting. Both tastings included some terrific wines (and snacks). And then we enjoyed a lovely lunch at LaGuardia, a beautiful small walled city atop a hill near Logrono.
