What To Expect

Corcovado - Christ the Redeemer

We'll start at Christ the Redeemer, we'll take a van up to almost the summit, where a flight of stairs will take us to the famous statue. A The view is breathtaking: the Tijuca Forest at the foot and the surrounding mountains, with Guanabara Bay in the background. Inaugurated in 1931, the Christ, with its 30-meter height and 28-meter arms, is one of the greatest symbols of Rio and one of the Seven Wonders of the World. After enjoying the view and taking lots of photos, we went down, certain that this experience is not to be missed! The order of the itinerary can be changed if necessary.

Mirante Dona Marta - Rio de Janeiro

After visiting Christ the Redeemer, we head to Mirante Dona Marta, one of the most incredible spots in Rio de Janeiro. The view is absolutely breathtaking! From here, you can see Guanabara Bay, Sugarloaf Mountain, Christ the Redeemer, and the city center all at once. It’s the perfect place to take in Rio’s stunning landscapes! Book through Viator and the process was very smooth. Get contacted the day before by the tour operator, which was appreciated. Tour takes place in small bus with maximum of approximate 16 seats. Good air conditionned. Driving was generally safe. The tour lasts about 8 hours and goes to all the advertised places. Good amount of time is given at each site to visit by ourselves. Prepared however to wait a bit at paid sites because tickets are not purchased in advance by your operator. While not advertised, there is stop early in the morning to a souvenir shop for about 20 minutes. Food at the restaurant is at best average. Our guide was Isaac and he was below average. He gave minimal information, and mostly in Portuguese. The few English he spoke was difficult to understand. He generally left us to wander in the sites with no information about what to see. Instead, he would go in a corner and look at his phone until it was time to go to next site. Not surprisingly, no one give him tip at the end of the tour. Overall, I would give 3.5 stars. With a good guide, I would give 4.5 stars (removing 0.5 star because of the average food at restaurant and the visit at the souvenir shop which I consider a waste of time).

Safe. I traveled alone as a woman to Rio. I did a lot of reading before coming and got a sense that it was safe if you traveled in groups and during daylight hours. Isaac picked me up in the lobby of the Hilton Copacabana and dropped me back safe and sound. The tour covers a lot and allows you to decide where you might want to re-visit. For me, I’d love to go back to sugarloaf mountain for urs serenity and shopping. Isaac took very good care of me as I was the only English speaking person there. He made sure to explain everything to me in English. Highly recommend if you want to see a lot in a day.

The tour's rating doesn't reflect its true quality. My guide, Rafael, spoke only basic English and lacked enthusiasm when explaining the attractions’ history and details. If you'd prefer to explore Rio's main sights at your own pace, you could follow the same itinerary and use Uber. For a more informative and engaging experience, consider other tour operators. P.S. The buffet restaurant was decent, but it's a common stop for many tours and can also be visited independently.

The tour was supposed yo be in english as it clearly says “English language tour”. 95% of the tour was spoken in Portuguese.

Our guide Bruno was superb and worked hard all day to ensure equal service to bother English and Portuguese speaking clients. A full on day but saw all I wanted. Wasn't so keen on lunch. It looked superb but food was not warm. Guide made the tour!
