Due to a misadventure with the Google Maps link, we arrived about 5 minutes late and were unable to check in 15 minutes before our scheduled time. The situation was made more difficult by limited signage and the parking area being a further 5-minute walk from the destination. When we reached the shed, no staff were present, and we weren’t sure who to contact for assistance. After some time wandering around, we eventually found two staff members calling out to the horses in the distance. Unfortunately, one of them responded with an unfriendly attitude about our delay. While we completely understood reducing the ride time from 75 to 60 minutes, the attitude and lack of clear directions (such as where to collect helmets) made the start of the experience frustrating. The horse ride itself was enjoyable as a first-time experience, and the misty sunrise with hot air balloons in the distance was a lovely sight. However, it would have been even better if we had the chance to practice more active control—such as guiding the horses left and right—instead of simply following in a line. Whilst I understand it’s due to safety reasons, surely there’s a better option and alternative for a horse-riding experience. Also, they take photos of you so not much freedom on the angles and shots you want.
