First of all, I read reviews before booking so I knew was I was getting into. There are tons of positive reviews but also lots of negative ones! If you read them and know what you're getting into prior, then you have nothing to worry about! Our guide Eduardo was great! He spoke Spanish, English, French every language you would need! The only part that isn't the greatest is how long it takes to get to the island. We left at 6:30am and didn't get back to the resort until about 7:30pm. It did say it was a 12hr excursion, but with all the travel etc it was just such a long day!! First you get picked up at the resort and they pick up a few others. Then all the vans drive for about half hr and go to the side of road to get on one big bus. Then about 1.5hr drive to Bayahibe where you get on the Catamaran or speedboat. We took Catamaran there, and speedboat back. This to me is the best option as by the time you go back you want to go fast lol. Catamaran was ok, music was loud and everyone was dancing. Drinks was only Rum and coke or sprite. Nothing else. Stopped at the natural pool for about 30 mins. This was great! Loved it. Then got to Saona island, the calm part is where all the boats are so you walk to the other side where the water isn't as calm but still beautiful! They have the Dominican buffet there which the locals make. I heard reviews about the food not being the greatest, but I thought it was decent! Maybe not gourmet, but what can u expect! Stayed there for about 2 hours then took the speedboat back. That part was rough bc the splash guard was broken so we got splashed the whole time. The nice couple in front of us held up a towel the whole time so that made a huge difference. We got back to the bus, and the super long drive back. It feels long bc you're worn out by then and just want to get back to the hotel. But everyone was amazing on the tour and everyone we met was wonderful. Eduardo was so great!! It was an experience I wanted to do at least once in my lifetime and I have no regrets!

It’s great being on the beach and taking the catamaran back after Saona. However, prepare for a long day, we were picked up at 0645am and returned to our hotel at 700pm. Pack lots of snacks because you don’t arrive to the island till approximately 11:30am and we were starving waiting for lunch to be served. Also, the tour guide didn’t count the amount of people correctly and we were left taking a small crowded bus separate from the rest of the group.

Beautiful island, the speed boat and catamaran was nice however, saying you have an open bar is very misleading. The only alcohol provided was this dark rum and you could mix it with cola or sprite

Great time over all. In the beginning the weather was not our best friend. The night/morning there was a storm and we tried to reschedule for the following day due to the weather and the receptionist did now allow it. The morning of our trip is was cold and raining. We took a speed boat and we were soaked due to the rain. Halfway through the trip is cleared up.
