Real escape & crossing stories—told at the DMZ
This is not just a sightseeing tour—it’s a story-driven experience.
Unlike standard DMZ tours, this experience brings you closer to what actually happened at the JSA through powerful real-life events.
• A U.S. soldier who suddenly crossed into North Korea at the JSA
• A North Korean soldier who ran across the border while being shot at
With real footage and visual materials, you won’t just see the DMZ—you’ll understand it.
Tour Highlights:
- Imjingak Peace Park (Mangbaedan, Freedom Bridge, Jangdan Steam Locomotive)
- Pyeonghwa Nuri Park (The Hill of Wind, Call for Unification, The Panmunjom Visitor Center )
- The 3rd Infiltration Tunnel
- Dora Observatory (view into North Korea)
- Unification Village.
Optional Experience:
Visit North Korea Exhibition and join a Defector Q&A session
Please note:
This tour does not enter the JSA or Panmunjom. Instead, it focuses on real stories and insights that help you understand what happens there.
Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller
Not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries
Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
Guests must bring and keep a valid passport for DMZ entrance
The DMZ is a military area and might be closed suddenly without any notice on the day. If it happens, an alternative tour will be provided (Alternative. Odusan Observatory and Korean War Memorial Museum)
Imjingak Pyeonghoa-Nuri Park
After arriving at Imjingak Peace Park, you will tour this park with your guide which includes a ticket office, tour spot, toilets and some snack bars. The tour spot offer interesting monuments such as the statue of peace, Mangbaedan, Freedom Bridge and Jangdan Station steam locomotive. You can understand them deeply through the guide's professional commentary. After the tour, you will board the bus and head to the checkpoint.
Freedom Bridge is a historic bridge located in Imjingak, built after the Korean War. It was used by prisoners of war returning to South Korea during the armistice period. The name “Freedom Bridge” reflects their return from captivity. Today, the bridge remains as a symbol of the division of Korea and the events that followed the war.

We had an amazing tour with our lovely tour guide Bill Hwang! He was super sweet, gave us heaps of info and made the tour very memorable with his humour! He made sure to also add heaps of recommendations for Seoul food spots, K-dramas and K-pop and is an amazing photographer!

Bill Hwang was our guide for the tour where he gave us a sobering history lesson — knowledgeable, engaging, and somehow able to slip in Korean uncle jokes without breaking the mood. We left knowing significantly more about the DMZ and having laughed more than expected. Highly recommend, unless you're allergic to dad humour!

Our tour guide, Bill Hwang, was super friendly and attentive! He went out of his way and took the time to explain everything to us in detail. The tour was really interesting. If possible, definitely book Bill Hwang as your tour guide (he takes great photos, by the way😉)

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best DMZ Guide — Ask for Bill Hwang! Bill was hands-down the highlight of our DMZ tour. Incredibly knowledgeable about the history, attentive to every member of the group, and armed with a collection of uncle jokes that kept everyone smiling even during the heavier parts of the visit. He strikes the perfect balance between being informative and engaging — never overwhelming you with facts, but making sure you leave with a real understanding of what the DMZ represents. If you want a guide who is professional, personable, and genuinely passionate about what he does, request Bill. 10/10 experience!

Our tour with Bill Hwang was fantastic. Bill explained everything to us in detail and made us laugh with his jokes. A really positive point of the tour is that there were six of us, which made the tour much simpler and more enjoyable.

Our visit to the DMZ in Korea was a really interesting and enjoyable experience. The tour was very well organized, and we learned a lot about the history and the current situation between North and South Korea. A special thanks to our guide Bill Hwang, who was excellent throughout the entire tour. He explained everything very clearly and made the experience both informative and engaging. He was also very considerate and gave us enough free time to explore and enjoy the places on our own, which we really appreciated. Overall, it was a great experience and I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Korea!
