Giant's Causeway

We allow ample time at the Giant's Causeway to make your way down to visit this famous World Heritage Site. It is a 20 minute walk from the Drop Off point to the amazing Causeway site, but there is a shuttle bus that operates for a small charge, ideal for those not comfortable walking up and down the steep gradient (hill) to the Causeway. The hexagonal basalt rocks really look like they were man made and this leads the people in Ireland to believe they were carved by Ireland's most famous Giant Warrior: the great Finn MacCoole. There is also a suggestion they may have been formed by Volcanic activity 60 million years ago. There is a charge of £11 payable at the site to visit the new Causeway visitor Center which has shops, a multimedia show and restaurants. Stoppage times are dependent on your cruise liners schedule**

The driver/guide did not show up. We contacted Customer Service and they did not have our reservation, despite the confirmation we had received. We had to find a Plan B at the last minute, which cost us a lot more (private guide). This private guide told us that this often happens with this company. However we got our refund quickly, thanks to Trip Advisor for that.

Giant's Causeway was just as amazing as we thought, we even got to dip our fingers in the ocean! The rest of our excursion was just ok, but we picked this one since it spent the most time at Giant's Causeway and we at least got a quick ride through Belfast with some info on its history and some lovely countryside. We had to prioritize and this tour was worth it!

  • Great day in Northern Ireland

This was a wonderful full-day trip from the Port of Belfast to The Giants Causeway and back from a cruise on August 19, 2025. We chose this tour because it was cheaper and more comprehensive than trips offered by the ship Our guide was very well informed and well-spoken. She also gave us tips that saved us some money. Although the Giants Causeway was the goal of the trip, we enjoyed the drive getting there along the coast even more. I guess we hadn't thought of Northern Island as beautiful. But, now when we think of Ireland we will always think of the coastal and pastoral scenes we saw there on this, a beautiful sunny day. The Causeway was great, but a little tricky for older folks and very crowded that day. We enjoyed photo stops at the Carrickfergus Castle and the Carick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, as well as Dunlace Castle. Because of time and traffic, we only did a drive-through in Belfast, but the narration by the Driver, a son of Belfast, was fascinating. Got back to our ship on time.

The tour was good and very educational. The company needs to rent buses with toilets. The pit and lunch stops were poorly timed. We spent too long without a pit or lunch stop. They need to better work on stops timing.

Fabulous tour. Guide Tom and driver Ian were great. Plenty of quick comfort stops and seeing sights off the beaten path. Causeway is incredibly windy. We were on Regal Princess. Pick up was a little confusing as the bus was not marked but we were still the first bus to depart. Plenty of time and never felt rushed throughout the day. Tour thru Belfast was very insightful, but did not stop for an hour to walk as suggested in description. But having driven through it, do not feel like we missed anything. It also started to rain, so all worked out.

  • Communication was horrible with viator and paddy wagon

The giants causeway is mobbed with people and weather awful. The biggest problem we had was dealing with both the tour operator ( who uses overseas agents who have no clue about the location. Paddy wagon was useless as well also using foreign customer service who could not answer questions, lied telling us the coach was on it way and would not listen that we were at a different terminal- the driver also admitted not knowing where our ship was docked despite me sending the exact address in writing AND. In several phone calls. Viator told me there wasn’t more than 1 terminal in Belfast despite me telling her otherwise. This ruined our day. We waited 1.5 hours near our ship awaiting “he’s on his way”. One agent hung up on me because told him he was incorrect that the driver was right by our ship. He kept insisting and wouldn’t listen to me about our address. Every driver had GPS so paddywagon not knowing the where our dock was located. I would Never book another tour again with paddywagon and as for Viator - we’ll be warned their customer service is overseas and useless.
