Shakespeare's Birthplace
A beautiful 16th century half-timbered building in Henley Street. It was the family home of John and Mary Shakespeare and where their son William Shakespeare was born in 1564. It was in this building where John Shakespeare established his glove-making business, where William grew up and after his marriage, lived with his wife Anne Hathaway. Hear stories of his childhood years and family life in Tudor times. (note - if you would like to visit Shakespeare's Birthplace before or after the tour, a discount is offered to Stratford Town Walk customers)

Really interesting walking tour around Stratford-upon-Avon. I enjoyed all the historical and architectural insights, and appreciated that the guide went beyond Shakespeare’s life to give a fuller picture of the town (so sorry I forgot her name! Lovely lady from Manchester). Despite the rain, she delivered the tour with great energy and clearly very knowledgeable. Excellent value for the price, highly recommend!

The registration was easy, even at the last minute. The location is very easy to find. The walk was an easy pace and perfect length. Owen was an enthusiastic fountain of knowledge, accommodating people's questions all the while, as well as getting to know the participants. His knowledge about Stratford and Shakespeare is wide ranging and fascinating, and his storytelling is hilarious! I would recommend this experience to everyone, especially those visiting for the first time.

I highly recommend this walking tour of Stratford-upon-Avon. Owen was very informative and entertaining as he told us the history and stories of SUA and its well known residents. It gives you a very good background history and the sites to see. A "Must Do" for all visitors coming for first time!

We were only in Stratford for one night to see Macbeth and jumped on the chance to do the walking tour. We are so, so glad that we did. Our guide was Josh who was fantastic! Knowledgeable, fun, considerate who engaged with everyone and knew so much and shared gladly! We learnt so much and it has just made us want to come back again as there is so much more to see and explore! Informative, well-paced and great value and the two hours just flew by (despite the freezing weather). Was the icing on the cake of a superb 24 hours in Stratford- thank you so much!

We really enjoyed the ghost walk especially as it was a dark and foggy night so even more atmospheric! The tour guide told us a range of spooky stories about various places in town and it was very entertaining !

John was a very friendly and engaging guide. Showed the best sites, good info about each. Weather terrible and a few people with mobility issues but John was very aware, checked regularly with us and tailored routes to accommodate those less able walking wise. Highly recommended.

Margot was a great host for this walk, loads of historical and interesting insights, and not only about Shakespeare's life, but Stratford Upon Avon itself. Personable, and an absolute oracle on everything we needed to know, also delivered with a great sense of humour, it was a super cold day but she never rushed us and it was a real pleasure for me and my wife to spend the 2hrs strolling around a beautiful place with such a lovely lady. Thoroughly recommended. Best way to get real insight into a wonderful place.

Highly recommended for any Shakespeare fans. Our guide, Georgina, was quite knowledgeable and entertaining. I can't up from London just for the day. Next time I'll start out in Stratford-upon-Avon for a couple of days. Saw so many things on the tour that I'd love to explore more deeply

It was amazing. Our guide Owen was one of the best guides we have had.,and we have done quite a few walking tours. He made it both interesting and fun. Although the weather was atrocious it didn’t dampen our spirits. Owen is an asset to your company. We would definitely recommend this tour, and we would do it again if you start incorporating a pub crawl into it. Very good value.
