Shakespeare's Birthplace
A beautiful 16th century half-timbered building in Henley Street. It was the family home of John and Mary Shakespeare and where their son William Shakespeare was born in 1564. It was in this building where John Shakespeare established his glove-making business, where William grew up and after his marriage, lived with his wife Anne Hathaway. Hear stories of his childhood years and family life in Tudor times. (note - if you would like to visit Shakespeare's Birthplace before or after the tour, a discount is offered to Stratford Town Walk customers)

An excellent and informative walking tour, which included, but was not dominated by, William Shakespeare. Our guide showed us how to tell an original Tudor building from a later one built in that style, how to understand the wealth of a medieval family by the wood and external decorations of its home; how to launder clothes in the old way (with urine!) and where in Stratford to see lampposts donated by cities in Spain, New Zealand and Ireland (and many other countries). The tour tickets included useful discounts for other attractions.

Beautiful walk around the town. Learnt so much. Grace was so informative, we struggled to take it all in. We'll probably be back in March so will try to book the tour again. Hopefully next time we won't get caught in a such a downpour.

A really interesting tour of Stratford-Upon-Avon, delivered by a really knowledgable and friendly guide (Grace). We were a family of four, with children aged 19 and 16. It was interesting for all of us! Thanks!

Fantastic way to learn all things Shakespeare and his birthplace town. Josh with his interests in history and theatre really enhanced the experience and his knowledge of the town. I would highly recommend booking on the tour if you’re planning on visiting Stratford Upon Avon.
