What To Expect
Hall of Benevolence and Longevity
The building was built in 1750, burned down in 1860 by the English and French troops and rebuilt in 1888 by the Empress Dowager Cixi. For administering government affairs, receive greetings, and receive foreign envoys.
Kunming Lake
Kunming Lake takes up about 75% of the park. This lake used to be a much smaller water source near Beijing. Before this water reservoir becomes a man-made lake. Most of the expansions took place during the time of the Qianlong Emperor, who used about 10000 laborers for this end. They used the extracted ground as a means to increasing the area around longevity hill.

5.00Booked entrance tickets only and received the QR code a few days before. Everything went well. Just keep in mind that the Tower of Buddhist Incense is not included, a quite cheap ticket can be purchased at the direct tower’s entrance.

5.00Our tour guide Jenny was amazing! She was very knowledgeable and charismatic. The summer palace was awe inspiring. The architecture and art work in this setting can't be beat, truly a once in a lifetime experience. Once the tour was over, Jenny was kind enough to help us get where we were going next. She was great! 100 percent would recommend.

5.00A good experience - the guide Linda was very helpful and came with suggestions for the trip that we could also other things. Had a lot to tell, and guided us on to the dining place, very satisfied. Several things in the garden were closed because it was Monday.

5.00Catherine Lu Tours is the perfect agency to organize an enchanting trip to the Summer Palace in Beijing. They take care of all the details (tickets, guide, driver, taking care of luggage) for you and allow you to have a very nice trip even for a short stop in Beijing and they have fair prices. I advise this agency to everyone. I will book again with them if I come back to Beijing.
