This tour offers a meaningful, expert-led exploration of Terezín for visitors seeking a serious understanding of the Holocaust, not a surface-level overview.
Our work is based on over 20 years of research led by historian Pavel Batel, dedicated specifically to Terezín and Holocaust education. Our organization actively contributes to historical awareness and regularly lectures and cooperated international Holocaust institutions.
We work closely with families of survivors and victims and have conducted interviews with key figures connected to the ghetto, including the families of Benjamin Murmelstein and H. G. Adler.
The tour goes beyond facts and dates, exploring daily life in the ghetto, deportations, Nazi propaganda, and Jewish cultural and spiritual resistance — always with historical accuracy and ethical responsibility.
This experience is designed for those looking for true experts on Terezín and for guests who want depth, context, and meaning.

Terezin Memorial
The Terezín Memorial honors the memory of tens of thousands of Jews imprisoned in what the Nazis falsely presented as a “model ghetto.” In reality, it was a site of propaganda, forced displacement, and cultural resilience. Our semi-private tour, led by Holocaust educators, focuses on Jewish history and includes key sites such as the Ghetto Museum, Magdeburg Barracks, Jewish Cemetery, Crematorium, Small Fortress, and the Hidden Synagogue—preserved with original inmate-painted prayers. To see all the sites of Terezín properly would require several days. Our colleague always tailors each visit according to the group’s timing and interest. Unlike brief or rushed tours, we offer the most detailed and meaningful experience—with door-to-door service and insights based on ongoing independent research. All our educators are personally trained and work closely with Czech author and Terezín expert Pavel Batel, whose work is based on interviews with survivors and decades of field research.
Mala Pevnost (Small Fortress)
You will hear stories about the everyday life of the Czech political prisoners in a concentration camp during the Nazi era. Visiting the Small Fortress is a very dramatic and intensive experience. Pavel is describing facts from original memoirs written by eyewitnesses and survivors right after the war. He personally interviewed their family members. Czech survivors of the Small fort suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder when they should recall memories of extreme torture of the special group of prisoners who were not considered to be human beings. These prisoners had no names and no numbers and usually didn't live longer than five days. They were called Jews!

This trip was a life changing experience. Hearing from Pavel who had personally interviewed survivors, and could bring their stories to life, was both comforting and horrifying. Comforting as I know they are not forgotten and horrifying as it revealed the depths of mankind’s potential for depravity. The timing and choice of each location were perfect, as was the information provided in advance. Pavel is an incredible historian and storyteller, with a balanced and humane approach. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I cannot speak highly enough about Pavel and his colleagues.

Life changing. The depth of knowledge and history will never be forgotten. All of us are familiar with the stories from WW2- this was different. It is felt on a visceral level. I wish everyone could see-feel-experience. Humankind would weep. May we never forget.

Knowing full well that a tour of Terezin would not be "fun" in the usual sense we were prepared for a difficult day. Our tour guide Jan picked us at the hotel in Prague for which we were joined by another couple from Chicago. From the almost hour drive to Terezin, it was clear immediately how knowledgable he was. Admittedly, I have a high standard for guides, as I am very well versed in history, especially Jewish history and history of the Holocaust. He met and exceeded all of our expectations. He basically was a walking encyclopedia of Terezin and many other aspects of the Holocaust and the history of the Jews in the former Czechoslovakia, in general. I would highly recommend using him and assumedly by extension this company for any such tour. I would add, even knowing much about the Holocaust, there is no substitute for standing in one of the key places of that era.

While in Prague we took two of the Batel semi-private tours: to Terezin with Helge, and to the Jewish Quarter with Yvonne. Unquestionably these were the highlight of our first trip to the Czech Republic. For Terezin, Helge, a Danish historian who now lives in Prague, began sharing information as soon as he picked us up at our hotel in a minivan. No question went unanswered all day: his knowledge was extensive, from historical overview to in-depth minutia. We never felt rushed, and he regularly contextualized buildings and landscapes whether or not we were entering them. As a researcher of the Danish Jews’ experiences in WWII, he presented an unexpected and enriching perspective. It was an overwhelmingly moving experience and one we’d recommend without reservation.

It was a remarkable experience spending the day with Pavel Batel. His knowledge and passion was simply unforgettable. This was a long powerful day. I began the day with a minimal understanding of Terrezin. I had no comprehension of how much more there was to learn and experience. I have read a great deal and have been to other Shoah related sites, but did not realize that my education had such a mammoth hole. As a guide, Pavel has all the gifts: encyclopedic knowledge and a burning passion to educate. This is special.

Insightful and sensitive presentation of a shocking and searingly horrific outbreak of the worst in human behavior and Anti-Semitism.

We visited the Terezin Ghetto and Gestapo prison. Our guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about preserving the history of Terezin. He offered several stories about individuals which made the visit more personal. The atrocities committed here are terrible and this history should never be forgotten to serve as a warning on what could happen if we allow it.
