At the Long Walk, the picturesque, tree-lined avenue that runs from Windsor Castle to the Copper Horse Statue in Windsor Great Park, I’ll tell you how the avenue was inspired by Versailles. Next, you’ll visit Windsor Guildhall, which played host to some famous weddings, including Sir Elton John’s nuptials. The tour finishes with a walk alongside the River Thames to Windsor Bridge.

5.00Deborah James’ walking tour of Windsor is a wonderfully immersive experience. We loved it. Starting at the stunning Guildhall what begins as a stroll through a charming royal town quickly becomes a journey through centuries of fascinating history, brought vividly to life by Deborah’s engaging narration. Her storytelling is rich in detail yet easy to follow blending historical depth with quirky facts. From the grandeur of The Castle to the quieter corners of the town, Deborah reveals stories of royalty, rebellion and everyday life that are often overlooked. Her narration is filled with insight and humour and you feel you’re not just learning about Windsor - you’re connecting with its legacy. The tour encourages you to look beyond the surface and appreciate the layers of history woven into the streets and buildings. My husband and I found ourselves completely absorbed and would gladly do it again - there’s so much to take in.
