What To Expect
Cotopaxi National Park
Itinerary 7:00 AM: Departure from the city of Baños de Agua Santa by private vehicle or from the city of Quito. 9:30 AM: Arrival at the first station "Control Caspi", located at 3,200 meters (10,498 feet). 10:00 AM: Continue by vehicle to the Interpretation Center "Mariscal Sucre", located at 3800 meters (12,467 feet). Visit the center for 30 minutes to learn about the flora, fauna and history of the Cotopaxi volcano. 11:00 AM: Travel by vehicle to the parking lot located at 4500 meters (14.763 feet). 11:45 PM: Start of the walk to the José Rivas Refuge, the only refuge of the Cotopaxi, located at 4800 meters (15,748 feet). The ascent lasts about 1 hour. 1:00 PM: Arrival at the José Rivas Refuge. 1:30 PM: In favorable weather conditions, you can continue the hike to the glaciers of the volcano. 2:00 PM: Descent of the volcano to the parking lot, lasting approximately 1 hour. 3:00 PM: Lunch. 6:00 PM: Arrival in the city of Baños or Quito.

4.00Good experience, even though I was unprepared for the hike / weather. It's important to know that the itinerary includes a hike up to ~4,800 metres / 16,000 feet, and gloves, warm hats, etc. are needed The good - great guide and a wonderful way to improve the journey between Banos and Quito. The listing on trip advisor / Viator needs to be improved to clearly explain the offering.

5.00We had a great time with my family visiting the majestic Cotopaxi volcano. We visited an interpretation center where very arrested more of the eruptive process, the lagoon cleanpungo surrounded by flora and fauna, The most beautiful the amazing view and the horseback riding, recommend!
