Chef Oswaldo was an awesome teacher who encouraged me to be actively involved in the cooking from start to finish, which was an incredible learning experience. I was the only person who had signed up for that day so I ended up with a private class. Upon arrival I was given a nicely printed recipe book to follow and take notes, as well as some delicious hot chocolate and a breakfast pastry. Oswaldo was so professional and organized and he was very supportive and patient as I was learning new cooking techniques. He has all the traditional Oaxacan equipment so you really get to experience authentic cooking. The three courses were prepared within a reasonable time and allowed for a relaxed meal at the end. The food was wonderful and I can’t wait to try the recipes at home. The setting, in a large garden area with lots of space, was cool and comfortable for cooking. I would encourage anyone considering a cooking class to choose this one—you won’t be disappointed!

Found out about this experience through someone I met at my hostel. So glad I found this as I had a great time and was hoping to do a cooking class in Oaxaca. I love chocolate Tamales now!

Host was incredibly experienced, brilliant knowledge and a pleasure to be around. All the food was delicious and cooking was fun for the experienced cooks in the group and the beginner cooks!

Our chef, Oswaldo Ramirez offered a wonderful, rich experience for us. He is an excellent teacher who is proud of the Oaxaca cuisine he has mastered. The class was enjoyable with a convivial group of six around the table. I highly recommend Taller de Cocina Quiote Recetario.

Oswaldo was a lovely teacher - patient, friendly and clear. The class went at a good pace. It was a really enjoyable experience. I would recommend for any skill level or group size, even alone. We had a lot of fun conversations with our group throughout the session. We got a copy of all the recipes, too (tortillas, memelas, mole, chocolate tamales, red salsa).

Osvaldo was great! So informative and very engaging. Oh! And Chocolate Tamales?! Yes and thank you! I've only made ones with pineapple and coconut. Highly recommend! My only suggestion is that if someone has walking difficulties make sure you let the instructor know so that your guest meets at the culinary location and not somewhere a distance away then. has to walk. ;-) I wanted to grind the mole but my legs were spent! I would've never been able otherwise get up. LOL

My cooking class experience was great! Chef Oswaldo is an expert but very modest. He was super knowledgeable not only about cooking but also about Oaxacan culture and traditions. He was patient and friendly and the menu was perfect. The venue was clean and colorful and perfect for a cooking class. It was more than enough food and I left feeling happy and stuffed! I would gladly do another cooking class and truly enjoyed my experience.
