I highly recommend Max and Rockaboo Mountain Adventures. I chose them for their interest in, and my passion for, glaciology and science. I booked a private hike on and repel into the Athabasca Glacier on Aug 23rd. It was a non touristy surprise for my son’s 17th birthday. Communication with his team was seamless. Max was adventurous, caring and knowledgeable. Our experience was so unique and exceeded our expectations. This adventure was an addition to our once in a lifetime Canadian Rockies experience. Thank you Max!

Once in a lifetime experience for the average traveler/hiker. 10/10 recommend. Do not waste time on walking up to the edge of the glacier yourself or taking the bus up. Take this tour!!!! Eric our guide was great!! The hike was full of good information and the walk on the glacier far exceeded anything we could have accomplished by ourselves or with the bus.

Simon was very professional and fun, a wealth of knowledge. Lots of helpful hints when to layer up, where to walk. I specifically booked with this company because they will lower you into a crevice and they did not disappoint! What a great experience all the way around.

Amazing experience to get up close with one of mother nature’s most incredible feats. So awesome to be able to be lowered into a mill well to see the inner workings of a melting glacier.

It was a super cool trip and the guide had a lot of knowledge that he shared with the group in a fun way. Would have liked to give 5 stars based on the experience but it became 4 because of the false advertisement. The guide does not look for places to descend below the ice surface. They have good reasons for that but it is a pity that they are not honest about it in the coverage. Despite that, we can definitely recommend the tour!

Once in a lifetime experience! Able to rappel into a crevasse on Athabasca Glacier is not something you get to do every day. Our guide Sarah was amazing, being able to cater to different age groups, fitness levels and yet everyone was able to enjoy themselves!

What an amazing experience. Sara was a fantastic guide. We were able to repel down into a crevasse and loved every minute. Enjoyed the 1+ mile hike to get out to the glacier. Learned a lot about the glaciers

Rappelling in the glacier was so cool and hiking to it was also fun. On the way to glacier, we learned about the history of it and the science of glaciers impact on its surrounding. This was way better than the bus option and glad I went with this. Shep was so cool and knowledgeable as well.

Max was an amazing, knowledgeable and fun guide. Walking up the glacier, stopping for an optional rappel down into the glacier, and generally being away from the hordes of crowds made this a highlight of our time in the area. As a side note: Such a better option than those monstrous trucks that belch diesel and disgorge people for 10 minutes of selfie snapping. Pick this tour if you love nature and a deeper experience.
