The hike to Trolltunga is long, 28 km. It’s recommended to use a guide outside the summer season which is defined between the 15th of June and the 15th of September. This is due to uncertainty related to weather, snow, rivers, and less daylight, which again have led to several rescue operations over the years. The weather changes fast at this time of the season
Spring at Trolltunga is a unique experience with few/no tourists in the mountains, crystal clear air, and several meters of snow We will provide snowshoes and poles if that's required.
Meeting point in Skjeggedal (P2) at 0800. Here you will meet our guide. If conditions allow us, we will be able to drive up to Mågelitoppen (P3), which will save us 4km and 400 vertical meters(!).
We will serve a delicious lunch, hot drinks and local snacks. We will have breaks along the way, and our guides will show you some spectacular hidden gems.
The duration of the hike is about 10-12 hours.

We loved our winter hike and would definitely recommend! Snow spikes, poles and great food provided. Our group was great and we hiked at a good pace so not too many people at the viewpoint for lunch. Mathilde and Paul were fantastic throughout!

Great hike. Our hike guides, Isa and Andreas were very professional and had an intricate knowledge of hiking in ice and snow. They were fun too and good to spend the day with. Great views and we had heaps of time to take photos. They took lots of photos for us. We had great weather, lunch and snacks. Highly recommended.

We completed the Trolltunga Winter Day hike on 16th May with our guide Albert. Initially we thought we could do this hike on our own, but given we were out of season hiring a guide turned out to be a real unexpected bonus. Albert was experienced and knowledgeable of the area and Scandinavian culture, had some great Troll stories too! He provided great snacks, lunch and the hot chocolate mocha was inspired! More than happy to take photos of us on Trolltunga. Despite it being May there was still snow on the ground, so the use of hiking poles and snow spikes proved invaluable. Best of all you get a lift from P2 to P3 which saved 8km of unnecessary hiking! Would thoroughly recommend.

Recommended. Highly valuable for the potential start at P3 alone (which is not always possible, with P2 the closest typical starting point at this time of year). Our multilingual guide Albert was a welcome host who showed us special views, shared cultural stories, and provided copious snacks in addition to providing deft mountaineering tips as needed. We are moderately experienced hikers/trekkers, but would still recommend Trolltunga Adventures for your first winter Trolltunga visit. The extra gear on hand (hiking poles, spikes) also a helpful touch.

Hiking on May 3, 2025 Used to hiking, I did this hike with my companion, as part of a guided hike. We had all the seasons in one day, sometimes hiking under the snow (with shoes equipped with spades), as well as sunny passages where we were forced to discover ourselves. On the way out the fog was stubborn then when it discovered we took full view! I recommend 100% Special mention to our guide Paul who was exceptional!

This was so amazing the team was so accommodating especially being the first tour after winter. There was a lot of unknowns with the weather conditions and a lot of rain the day before our hike was planned. Due to the bad weather the team postponed the hike but they were flexible in helping us make sure that we made the hike happen the next day while making sure it was safe to do so. The guides Asbjørn and Marcus, were so amazing. They are such legends extremely nice people and super knowledgeable. Even when some parts were a bit questionable with fog and snow up on the mountain I always felt safe following them knowing that they are so experienced. I could not recommend this enough. It was one of the best days ever. Looking forward to coming back and doing it again. Thanks so much team!

The organization, communication, our guides and of course the hike itself were top!!! I can recommend it to everyone to do this once. Our guides were great, there was a regular break, we were shown views that we probably each would not have seen on his own if he had hiked alone, also was taken into consideration those where were slower or occasionally also fell back a bit conditionally, there always remained at least one guide with one. Thank you for this great experience! Best regards Daniel
