You will be welcomed by your professional English-speaking guide, who will accompany you throughout the experience. From there, you will travel in a comfortable private 4WD vehicle, specially equipped for the unique conditions of the region, ensuring both safety and a smooth journey.
Train Cemetery
The visit begins with a stop at the Train Cemetery, one of the most iconic sites in Uyuni. Here, you will explore a collection of old locomotives and railway wagons that date back to Bolivia’s mining era, now resting in the open desert. This unique setting offers a glimpse into the region’s history, while also creating a striking and atmospheric landscape for photography. Throughout the visit, you will be accompanied by your professional guide, who will share insights about the history of the railway and the significance of this place, enriching the experience beyond what you see.
Colchani
The journey then continues to the small village of Colchani, located on the edge of the salt flats. This is a meaningful stop that offers insight into the local way of life. Here, you will visit artisan shops, small salt museums, and traditional salt processing areas, where local families continue to work using ancestral methods. You will see how salt is collected, dried, and shaped into different forms, as well as learn about its importance for the community. It is also a great opportunity to discover handcrafted souvenirs made from salt and other local materials. This visit provides a more personal connection to the region, adding cultural depth to the experience before entering the vast landscapes of the Salar.
Salar de Uyuni
The journey then continues into the vast expanse of the Uyuni Salt Flats, one of the most extraordinary landscapes in the world. As you enter the Salar, the horizon seems to disappear, creating a unique sense of space and stillness. Along the way, you will visit some of the most iconic areas, carefully selected for their best photographic perspectives and scenic beauty. This is the perfect moment to take creative photos, play with perspective, and simply enjoy the silence and immensity of this natural wonder. The ever-changing light and reflections make each moment feel different, offering truly unforgettable views.
Isla Incahuasi
The journey continues with a visit to Incahuasi Island, a unique rocky outcrop located in the middle of the salt flats. The island is covered with giant cacti, some of them several meters tall, and features ancient petrified coral formations, reminding us that this area was once covered by a prehistoric lake. Upon arrival, you will have time to walk along marked trails, gradually ascending to higher viewpoints where you can enjoy panoramic views over the endless white expanse of the Salar. It is a perfect moment to explore at your own pace, take photographs, and appreciate the contrast between the cacti, the rock formations, and the vast surrounding landscape.
Tunupa Volcano
After enjoying lunch in the middle of the salt flats, the journey continues towards the impressive Tunupa Volcano, located along the northern edge of the Salar. This area offers a different perspective of the region, combining landscapes with local culture. Along the way, it is possible to observe pink flamingos in nearby lagoons, as well as herds of llamas and vicuñas moving freely across the Altiplano. The visit also includes stops at traditional villages and small local museums, where you can learn about the history, customs, and daily life of the Andean communities that have inhabited this region for generations. It is a more cultural and authentic part of the journey, adding depth and connection to the experience.
Salar de Uyuni
As the day comes to an end, we return to the salt flats to witness the sunset over the Uyuni Salar, one of the most memorable moments of the journey. As the light begins to fade, the colors of the sky reflect softly over the vast white landscape, creating a calm and almost surreal atmosphere. To complete the experience, we prepare a special sunset toast, allowing you to pause, take in the moment, and enjoy the silence and beauty of this extraordinary place.

We enjoyed our 2 full days tour with Joker Expeditions. Our guide, Oscar, was very entertaining and knowledgeable. The camper was perfect! Everything we needed was there — even a toilet and a shower! The owner, Mr. Jose, personally gave us a tour of the camper and even served us dinner in the camper. They made sure to park the camper in a perfect location - creating a mirror effect for the night sky. It was absolutely THE highlight of our trip!
