Every year around the end of November till the beginning of April we are honored to welcome the Humpback whale in our area.
Once the water temperature changes, they come down with the colder currents from Alaska to mate and raise their babies.
These incredible animals that can grow up to 52 ft are an absolute must see for nature lovers.
Let these giants surprise you when they come to greet us peacefully; enjoy playtime of the newborn calves: a spectacular water show with turns and jumps guaranteed!
Be stunned by their enchanting song, which can last up to 20 min and can be repeated for hours…
Suitable for all physical fitness levels

Our tour starts directly in the docks of la Marina de La Cruz. We gather at our boat Oceano 1 and once packed and ready we set off to the mighty ocean. Our guide will give you an introduction into the incredible sea life of Banderas Bay and with the trained eye of the captain you will spot your first humpback whale in less than half an hour. While our guide shares you the secrets of the marine life, you can relax on the boat with a some refreshing drinks. Please note our company respects and will follow all regulations around whale watching as described by the Semarnat and won´t allow any exceptions.

The actual whale watching part of this tour was great. We saw several mothers and calves and saw a calve breaching several times. I have no complaint about this part. While enjoying the beach in Sayulita, we watched whale watching boats come and go from the beach and assumed that this was how we would leave for our trip, but we were transported by van about 45 minutes away where we boarded our boat. Then at the end of the trip, our boat captain called a couple of taxis to transport us back to Sayulita. I would have assumed that the return transportation was included in the Viator charge, but the taxi driver insisted that he had not been paid. Scam? Perhaps. The good news is that the taxi was pretty reasonable for the distance traveled. It was sort of a strange experience -- not the usual seamless Viator operation I have experienced in the past.

Trip cancelled by the operator the morning of the event. I had called the day before to confirm the departure point. No one called back.

The address for the meeting point is incorrect, so almost did not make the trip because we were in the wrong spot. Other than that perfect trip definitely recommend.

Sebastian was great to work with. We originally scheduled a scuba trip to Las Marietas but had to reschedule when one of our party got sick. We ended up taking a whale watching boat adventure with our whole party. Lila and Capitan Eric took us out and we saw whales and mantarays while seeing an amazing sunset. Highly recomend!

We had so much fun on this tour. If you’re a couple looking to have some personal time and be out on an adventure this is worth it! We saw a few whales and the whole team were so welcoming and on top of the drinks/snacks on the boat so we were very satisfied in the end :) We recommend you call the team before you arrive to confirm departure spot. The address in the ticket was a block off but nonetheless a smooth and fun experience!

We took a sunset whale watching tour with Océano Adventures, and enjoyed the actual whale watching, but had some difficulty with the logistics. We were send links to two different maps that showed the meetup location on opposite sides of the La Cruz marina. We also received two different meeting and departure times, with the earliest time communicated to us only 90 minutes before. It would be very simple for this company to take a screen capture of the marina on Google maps and add a star at the exact meeting point, or just tell people to meet by the bathrooms of the La Cruz yacht club. It was stressful to be running around such a large marina trying to find the meeting place, which wasn’t a great way to start the tour. The food on board wasn’t very good and would be better skipped altogether (but we appreciated the wine and other beverages). Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly.

Our large family each had different things they wanted to do and Oceano Adventures accommodated them all! We took the Yelapa tour, but on the way we did whale watching. We were so lucky we saw a huge humpback whale jump out of the water! Then, when we got to Los Arcos, I scuba dived a canyon while my family snorkeled. We went to Majahuitas, where again I did a short dive and my family snorkeled. They saw lots of colorful fish and I saw an octopus and a green sea turtle. We went to the fishing village of Yelapa for a terrific seafood lunch, then took a short hike up to see a waterfall before heading home. Who knew we could fit all of that into a day! Oceano Adventures was extremely reasonably priced compared to the other companies and our three guides were some of the best I've ever had--friendly, skilled and knowledgable. I don't know how it could have been any better.
