Trou aux Cerfs
Begin your 7-8 hours southwest scenic tour with a hotel pick-up anywhere in Mauritius. You will meet & be greeted by our certified guide and after boarding to your comfortable vehicle, then set off for your first stop. You'll be heading to Trou Aux Cerfs which is one of the famous natural tourist attractions in Mauritius. The dormant volcanic crater is around 605 meters above sea level, with a diameter of 350 meters & a depth of around 100 meters. Unlike the typical volcanic features, Trou aux Cerfs’ crater is surrounded by a vast area of lush forest consisting of indigenous plant species and some giant green pine trees. It is believed that the Trou aux Cerfs erupted once and has remained dormant for the last 700 000 years; experts believe that there is a potential chance for it to become active again. Definitely, one of the main highlights is the 360-degree view of the town, Curepipe & the majestic view of Rempart Mountain, Trois Mamelles, and the Port-Louis- Moka mountain range.
Mare Aux Vacoas reservoir which has the honor of being the largest reservoir on the island with a capacity of almost 26 million cubic meters and is simultaneously a rather popular stop for tourists visiting the south of the island. Although nothing as fancy as the other attractions in Mauritius, Mare aux Vacoas is a gem hidden between lines of thick forests. It is the perfect place to spend a relaxing few minutes away from the usual hustle and bustle of the country. The reservoir even offers a rather amazing view worth several clicks.

This was a fantastic day to say the least! We had the pleasure of meeting Anuj who was our driver for the day. He took us to loads of wonderful places and informed us all about the history along the way! We started off at the Grand Bassin after passing the Mare Aux Vacoas Reservoir. We saw the temples and statues which left us absolutely speechless! Anuj let us walk around for as long as we liked which was lovely as we didn’t feel rushed and it gave us the chance to really appreciate the beauty. We then stopped off at the Bois Cheri Tea Plantation which had incredible views. We drank unlimited tea and got to try all the delicious flavors! The biscuits were a great addition! After, we stopped off at Alexandra falls and the Black River Gorge View Point which was so stunning! The monkeys were super cute too! Later on during the day we had a lovely lunch at Saveur Tropicale Chamarel. Three courses! It was so nice to stop somewhere local that served great dishes where it wasn’t filled with tourists. Anuj picked a great spot for sure! The last stop of the day was at Rhumerie De Chamarel which was definitely my favorite! We got to taste 11 different rums, including their new flavors! We got to try their jams there too, the spicy ones were the best! The whole area was so beautiful and the staff were lovely. I would definitely recommend booking this experience!

Despite the weather being atrocious during our day out, we still managed to have a great day. The main reason for this was our driver/guide Daren who kept the mood buoyant with his extensive knowledge and enthusiasm for everything to do with the itinerary of the day and also his own stories/experiences. We would definitely recommend this trip to others-if you don’t enjoy the variety in this trip then you have no soul!!

Beautiful comprehensive tour with all the great attractions of the South. Spontaneously we could add the Valley of color to the tour. In particular, the tour was also particularly successful because of our guide Sahil, he had a friendly nice manner, explained something about everything without it being too much or too little. Highly recommended!

We were contacted the day before to confirm pick up time and contacted ehen Daren arrrived at the hotel in the morning. The tour was perfect, gave us the opportunity to see lots of sights (and potentially return to some if we wish on another day). It was a private tour so we got the chance to ask anything we wanted. Daren (our tour guide) was knowledgeable and friendly, we did not feel rushed at all. Perfect day, highly recommend.

Daren was a fantastic guide for the day. He was very knowledgeable about the island. Any questions that we had, even when not related to the planned visits at each location, he was able to answer. He is very passionate about the island and you can tell. Each of the stops were wonderful and just as good as we had hoped for. We didn't feel rushed around and took our time at each of the places. The lunch that was part of the four was wonderful and catered well for my wife who requires gluten free food as she is a coeliac. This tour is not to be missed if you want to see what the south of the island has to offer.
