Hampton Court Closed . . . Why Did Viator Sell Us the Tour in the First Place?

3.00Having taken this tour myself previously, I was excited to have friends join me for a full day of castle exploration. Unfortunately, the day was altered significantly, as Hampton Court Palace was CLOSED when we arrived in the morning. While our guide for the day -- Graham -- was great, and while he made a quick adjustment to give us time at Kew Gardens instead of Hampton Court Palace (which was fine, but certainly not Hampton Court Palace) the tour should not have been offered on a date where one of the two sites was closed for the day. Viator should ensure that tour dates are only offered on days when the castles are actually open. I would recommend this tour for anyone, as I have taken it previously, and I note again that Graham was fantastic. But if you book this tour, be sure to (1) ensure that both castles are open on the day you want to tour; and (2) book your tickets for the castles in advance (10:00 a.m. for Hampton; 3:00 p.m. for Windsor). The first time I took the tour, the guide took care of that for us. This time, the tour guide did not do so, and seemed surprised we had not already booked our tickets.
