West Thumb Geyser Basin
Our Twilight Tour is a 4 to 5 mile journey and usually takes about 3 hours. After a brief orientation with your guide, the group will paddle along the shore of Yellowstone Lake, North America's Largest High Alpine Lake! Depending on weather conditions and the group ability, our guides will safely escort the group to West Thumb Geyser Basin. After touring the Geyser Basin, where dozens of geothermal features are visible above and below the water's surface, we will return along the same route, stopping for refreshment and a chance to explore along the shore of the lake, arriving back at our Launch Point in Grant Marina before the sun sets. Return time may vary depending on group size, weather, fitness, and of course the time the sunsets.

We had a three-hour sunset kayaking trip with Grand Prismatic Tours in late September 2025. Dylan was our guide, and he did a phenomenal job. He was personable, knowledgeable, and kind. My husband and I were in a tandem kayak and the six-mile round-trip paddle was easy to execute and enjoyable. Dylan pointed out wildlife as we paddled - a bald eagle and a close-up elk on the shoreline were particularly memorable - and told us interesting facts about the lake and Yellowstone’s geothermal features. Speaking of, seeing the geysers from the water was a really unique and neat experience. I would highly recommend!

I can’t recommend this tour enough. Our guide Dylan was so informative and told such great stories about the park. Beyond the tour, he was really helpful with some recommendations for hikes and fishing spots in the area. We really appreciated how the tour guides broke the bigger group up into two smaller groups of 5. It kept the experience very intimate and allowed everyone to hear everything that was being said and ask questions. Pretty cool getting to see some geysers that can only be seen from the water.

I was worried about the temperature at night but it was actually great weather for nothing more than t shirt and swim trunks. Great views, guide and experience.
