Angkor Thom
After organising tickets for Angkor Park, we visit Angkor Thom first and head for Bayon temple with its many stone faces.
Baphuon Temple
Baphoun temple is nearby Bayon, so we have a quick stop and have a look.
Terrace of the Leper King
Moving on a little further, we stop to see the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King, both also within the Angkor Thom area.
Ta Prohm
Leaving Angkor Phrom to the East, we drop by Ta Phrom temple, famous for the ancient trees that strangle the temple buildings with their massive roots. This temple was featured in the Tomb Raider movie starring Angelia Jolie.
Angkor Wat
After a break for lunch at a nearby restaurant, we continue to the main attraction, Angkor Wat.
Phnom Bakheng
Finally, we head off to Phnom Bakheng where we probably mix with a large crowd at the top of this ancient temple. We have to go there a bit early and wait due to a restriction on numbers at the summit.
Angkor Wat
We start very early! We leave your hotel at 5:00am or earlier and head straight for Angkor Wat. Waiting with the early risers, we see the sun rise over Angkor Wat, a wonderful and beautiful sight if the weather is kind.
Angkor Wat
From Angkor Wat, we return to your hotel so you can enjoy your inclusive breakfast (assuming its included) in your room rate. We can stop at a restaurant if you prefer.
Banteay Samre
After breakfast, we head for Prep Rup temple and stop for a visit. Then further on we stop at Banteay Samre temple plus a stop for a short while to see palm sugar manufacture or to visit the landmine museum if guests are interested.
Banteay Srei
We then proceed further on a long drive to see the pink ladies Temple of Banteay Srei.
Tonle Sap Lake
After lunch, we continue to the edges of Tonle Sap in the Kompong Pluk area and we cruise around the village on motorized boat and see the houses of the water villages on stilts. Along the way, we stop at the pagoda on the island and later a floating cafe.

My wife and I booked a 2 day tour of Siem Reap for our honeymoon from the UK during the dry season in December. There were many high-rated tour choices available but this tour was the only one where we could do a Sunset & Sunrise Tour, visit Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, Ta Prohm, and have a boat tour of the Tonle Sap Lake floating village over the course of 2 days, which is what made it stand out from the crowd. Our personal tour guide, Seng, was extremely knowledgable and had a deep understanding of the history of the temples, as well as the vast number of Hindi and Buddhist carvings and statues you can find around the temples, and he explained the fascinating stories behind each of them throughout our tour (as well as doing a great Apsara dance impression). We also visited many more temples on top of the main attractions and we saw gibbons and monkeys which were great fun. This was the first tour we have done over multiple days (11 hours on both days) and also the first private tour we have done (with no tour group). This won’t be for everyone but we were able to ask any questions at any time, spend longer in any location we wanted, and we basically ended up having a personal photographer with us the whole time (and trust me we needed it). I can’t express how much additional time and enjoyment can be obtained from viewing the Angkor temples if you actually understand the context of why they were built and in the way they were built. A self-guided tour would only present you with great photo opportunities without gaining any insight into the history of the Angkor temples. If you are yearning to understand the culture of this beautiful city and country then this is the tour for you. Hints: - We tried to save time buying digital Angkor passes but ended up having to go to the ticket office anyway. Plus you get a souvenir if you get a paper ticket. - Bring a lot of small US dollar bills ($5 is best) as prices here are in USD. You may get change in Cambodian Riel but that’s okay. - The floating villages at Tonle Sap are only “floating” during the rainy season so they were on wooden stilts when we went to view them (but it was still interesting to see how the floating villages were actually built). We were still able to take a boat ride to the mouth of the Tonle Sap lake. - The 3rd floor (top) of Angkor Wat was closed on Sunday (our day of visit) as it is the Buddhist Holy day.

Excellent tour. We missed the first day due to flight but they extended the second day and made the most of the time!

This well-paced and versatile tour hits many temple and region highlights and ensures seeing a wide range of temples. Our knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide, Mr. Seng, was a joy to work with and went out of his way to ensure an enjoyable and educational tour. Our driver was a considerate and reliable addition. The addition of the Tonle-Sap tour was interesting in this season (March) given the low lake level and relative lack of tourism. Overall very grateful for a wonderful few days exploring this incredible region.
