Udzungwa Mountains National Park

Following breakfast, we leave Ifakara for our first stop at Udzungwa National Park a one and a half-hour drive from Ifakara. Udzungwa Mountain National Park, which is 1990 square kilometers, is the first terrestrial national park in Tanzania. It is well known for its biologically diverse forest with approximately 20 - 30% out of 200 animals and plant species that grow here not found anywhere in the world. Still, it is a really beautiful place for hiking. A leisurely picnic lunch will be served inside the park. The remainder of the day will be spent inside the park.

After Hiking, we will drive to the Kilombero river for canoeing and birds spot until sunset, then return to our hotel for dinner and overnight

Mikumi National Park

Breakfast will be available at 7:00-7:30 followed by a direct two hours drive to Mikumi national park via Kilombero sugarcane plantation Refreshments and light snacks will be provided en-route. We will arrive in Mikumi national park at 10:00 am. This often affords one an opportunity to see the animals at rest, seeking shelter from the unrelenting heat under the branches of a large tree. The day concludes with checking into the Park cottages/rest houses and back out on safari for a drive of close to two hours. We then return to the hotel for lunch and a brief rest before leaving for an afternoon game drive of close to four hours. We return to the Park cottages/Rest house where dinner awaits us at the hotel between 7:00 and 8:30 p.m.
