What To Expect
Plaza San Martin
First, we'll go towards the historical center of Lima, where we’ll visit San Martin Square, your local tour guide will give you a good introduction to the history of the country, its people and the local life.
Jiron de La Union
This is an unmissable street! You will have a panoramic view and you will appreciate a very nice architecture, great wooden balconies, impressive rock carvings and monumental churches. The local atmosphere, shops, chicken restaurants plus local music will make your day for sure interesting!

Disappointing Experience

2.00Hotel pickup was 15 minutes late. That’s not too bad, but don’t blame traffic. Traffic is bad every day. Be prepared and start earlier. 8 others were to be picked up separately and join the tour. Tour scheduled for 9:45. They arrived at the meeting point 70 minutes late due to traffic. Nothing was abnormal about traffic. It was a normal traffic day. Tour started at 10:55. I hung out in St Martim Square waiting for four to start. Guide conversed with me me part of this time but was distracted by calls and texts about the whereabouts of this group. This group of 8 should have received their own private tour. Adding me to this obnoxious group was painful. Even the tour guide rolled his eyes and actually repeatedly apologized to me about their behavior. Lunch was not at a restaurant but at the office of the tour company characterized as with a private chef. The hot entree was cold and many asked for it to be heated in a microwave. The group listened to a soccer game loudly on their phone throughout the whole lunch and in the van following the lunch. They reacted loudly throughout the game to scoring and missed goals. The tour guide should have required earphones or put a stop to this. It ruined my tour experience for which I paid a high price. In the van on a 40-minute drive, one of the group members spoke loudly on her phone to address a problem she was having with a client. It went on for 40 minutes. It was rude and obnoxious to make me have to listen to this. The group held up the tour to shop, get coffee, make decisions - and often lagged behind. The tour guide noted his frustration to me, and he appeared to rush us thru several points to make up time. The walks through Kennedy Park and Parque del Armor to see a famous sculpture and view of the sea noted clearly in the itinerary were both skipped. This was disappointing. I returned to my hotel after 7pm. The tour was scheduled to be 9 am - 5 pm. The tour guide needs to have better control over tour participants to ensure that all participants have a good experience.

5.00Silvana is a friendly, knowledgeable guide. Our driver was excellent. We learned about history, culture & food, and visited all the key sites in Lima. The tour was nearly private (2 people). That made the dialog very personable. I recommend this tour.

From the historic district, to a private lunch, to the top of the hills for a view of the city, a major market, and to the artsy areas, we covered a lot in one day! Maverick was full of knowledge and kindness. So glad I chose this tour for my limited time in Lima.
