10:30 Start the adventure Starting ther tour to the islands of Callao. At first we observed the anchorage of yachts, warships and merchant ships in Callao bay. During the trip we will go by the low or sand bank "El Camotal", open sea "Mar Adentro". We passed the island of San Lorenzo, rich history that comes from pre-Columbian times until today. We see fishing boats, various colonies of guano birds and Humboldt penguins.

We had a group of 7 and we all had a blast on this tour. J was knowledgeable, funny, and gave clear instructions on boat and swim safety. He gave great info on the tour and happily answered any questions. I thought the island tour would be a bit lackluster, but the history there was pretty interesting. Seeing the penguins, and swimming with all the seal lions was a blast! We kept a respectful distance, but many of the sea lions were curious and came close. The Inca Rock makes for great photos too!

I had no idea that my first time seeing the Pacific Ocean would also entail seeing penguins and friendly sea lions in the wild. I also didn’t think I would be taking the polar plunge minutes later to swim in such close proximity to these amazing creatures! Rodrigo kept us entertained and educated and our captain, Segundo was absolutely handling these big waves. We each got a chance to take a GoPro picture in the water with the sea lions making a photo bomb thanks to Rodrigo’s offering. This excursion also adds to the conservancy efforts to the Palomino islands. So much fun!

A must do experience. The boat ride and guide are excellent - good balance of history and biology. The sea lion viewing is spectacular- even if you don’t get in the water - but you should! The water is shockingly cold but you will adjust quickly and then you are captivated by the curious sea lions right by you. Make sure you bring a towel because the ride back is cold. If you get seasick, bring Dramamine because the waves are huge. We loved this experience.

A good experience... up to inappropriate behavior of the guide Overall, the excursion went well: the organization was correct, the scenery beautiful, and the program respected. We were very satisfied... until the guide adopted an inappropriate attitude when trying to flirt with my girlfriend. This behavior made the end of the day uncomfortable and clearly ruined my experience. We understand that a certain conviviality is part of the role of a guide, but there are professional limits to respect, especially in such a personal setting. Too bad, because without it, the excursion would have deserved a much better rating.

This was absolutely incredible!! The boat ride was fun, the birds amazing, and watching the sea lions was magical. They followed behind our boat as we drove by the island and popped their heads out to watch us. I didn’t think the water was bad after the first two minutes, but coming back was a little chilly. I recommend bringing a warm/dry set of clothes/underwear to change into in the bathrooms after you get off the boat. Your stuff won’t get wet if you leave it on the seats of the boat.
