What To Expect
Ine is a charming fishing village located on the coast of the Sea of Japan in northern Kyoto Prefecture. It is renowned for its unique wooden boathouses, known as "Funaya," which translates literally to “boat house” in Japanese. Around 230 Funaya line the coast of Ine Bay, stretching for five kilometers. Each boathouse has two levels: the first floor is used for storing fishing boats and gear, providing direct access to the sea. This design makes the boathouses appear as though they are floating, as the first floor is almost flush with the waterline. The second floor contains a living area and is connected to the main house, providing access to the road. These distinctive houses have been around for over 300 years and offer picturesque views throughout the seasons. From cherry blossoms in spring to snow-covered roofs in winter, the Funaya of Ine Bay is a must-see destination for anyone looking to experience the beauty of traditional Japanese architecture by the sea.

Terrible Experience – Deleted Booking, Zero Accountability, Awful Customer Service

1.00I have spent thousands of dollars on this platform over multiple trips, and I’ve never experienced anything this disappointing. I booked a tour in Osaka but received a confirmation telling me to be at the Kyoto Station Sunken Garden at 7:50 AM. My entire family showed up exactly where the confirmation instructed us to be. At 8:00 AM, the guide messaged saying she was actually in Osaka. A complete mix-up on their end, not ours, and because of that we missed the entire tour. I provide screenshots of the confirmation meeting point and sent a pin showing we where in fact where they sent us to be. We spend money and time rushing to Kyoto from Osaka just to be left. When I requested a refund, customer care asked for my booking number. I went back into the app to get it — and shockingly, the booking was the ONLY one deleted out of all eight tours I had previously booked. I couldn’t believe it. The one booking I needed to reference was suddenly gone right after they rejected my refund. To make it worse, the customer service agent’s attitude was dismissive and unprofessional. After I explained everything, he told me to “come back later if I wasn’t getting a response,” even though the wait time he gave me was only three minutes. Zero empathy, zero accountability, zero effort. This is absolutely unacceptable for a company I’ve trusted with so much money and so many important travel experiences. When they make a mistake, they do not stand behind their customers. I am switching to a competitor immediately. Never again.

5.00We thoroughly enjoyed our day on this tour and it exceeded our expectations. Stephen our cool dude tour guide was great. He gave good clear instructions and set up a group WhatsApp to send written instructions and maps. We purchased tickets for the extras in our initial ticket, the boat and chair lift, and there was plenty of time for both and both well worth it. It was a full tour but everyone kept to the schedule and seemed to enjoy themselves. While the weather was not perfect we still enjoyed the views and the experience. The pickup and drop off point near Kyoto Main station was easy to find and was within walking distance from our Kyoto hotel.

5.00The experience was really awesome and our guide Lee was organized and on it! The town of Ine is very charming and beautiful, I only wish we could have spent more time there as it felt a bit rushed. Amanohasidate is stunning as well but we were there on a Saturday and it was incredibly busy. So by the time we waited in line for the lift up and down, we didn’t have too much time to explore the top or the shrine and rest of the town. I would recommend going on a weekday if possible. But the tour itself was really lovely and a great way to see two really amazing places in Japan.

5.00Ine fishing village was a quiet but beautiful place to visit and love the experience of feeding the seagull. The view from the top of amanohashidate is just breathtaking. Highly recommend to take the chairlift to the top as can see better view. Highly recommend this day tour!

4.00We had a fun tour with guide Steven exploring the coastal areas near Kyoto. The tour was given in Chinese and English, but he sent all the pertinent background info and meetup times/places in WhatsApp to avoid confusion. The tour was self guided at each location, although background was provided ahead of time. The scenery was beautiful and it was a lovely break from the heat and crowds of Kyoto.

1.00We had a poor experience for this tour. The tour guide Charles was disinterested the whole time and didn’t bother to explain any spot/history of the planned places. The bus ride is 2 hours each way from the pickup/drop off location and he slept all through the ride in and out. Additionally he didnot cover all the spots mentioned in the plan. I would really advise the tour company to find motivated “guides” who actually care to do their job. Ine village and cable car ride were worth the visit but the experience would have been more enriching iff the guide would have done their job.
