  • Waterfalls canceled, replaced with buggy tour

It rained a lot and the tour was canceled. They offered another in its place, the reason I gave 4 stars. Operators were great! Cruise ship hike/waterfall tours were just canceled so we're glad we booked through Viator, as the tour operators refunded and offered new tours. So we basically had a "private" tour with our group of 4. Another couple was in our shuttle and they did the ATV tour following behind us. We felt so bad for the locals at the stop since we were likely the only tourists that day so we bought many souvenirs and locally made goods. Very nice people. Because of the heavy rain, we had a ton of fun blasting through the streams, big puddles of water and mud. Afterwards to the beach where we rinsed off much of the mud in the warm waters. Showers at the end so we could clean up better. Close to the cruise terminal so we had plenty of time to admire the beach and local scene near the fortress.

  • Waterfall experience was fantastic

The waterfall experience was fantastic, the guides keep you informed and you feel very safe, the lunch, chocolate and cigar tour felt very rushed though

  • Awesome waterfall slide experience

So glad we did this- a very popular excursion! We had a group of 10 including kids and seniors- fun for everyone! Private van picked us up at outside the cruise terminal and went straight to the waterfalls. Water shoes are a must but can be rented there for $2 if you don’t have them. We had a photographer go with us and took great pics of us in the falls. Would definitely recommend purchasing the photo package. Afterwards, a delish Dominican meal- rice, beans, salad, plantains, avocados and drinks included! Our tour guides were so helpful and friendly- shout out to Anthony, Daniel, Daniella!!

  • Strenuous hike. Bring hard sole water shoes.

The hike is long and strenuous, even though it was beautiful and peaceful. Be prepared to walk about 3 miles (90 minutes) and climb steps and descend steps as well. If you're not used to a lot of walking, this isn't for you. They tell you to bring water shoes, but it should specify hard soled water shoes or hiking sandals/shoes with hard soles. I felt every rock and branch I stepped on. It made the hike worse. The guides were helpful and waited for those who needed extra breaks during the hike. Once at the falls we got to slide down 2 in the beginning and you could either slide or jump from the taller fall (twice). It was all so quick, I guess I was expecting more time at the falls. The excursion was mainly a lot of walking. The lunch was cold and underwhelming and the stop to get the chocolate and rum/mamajuana shots was basically to get you to patronize the business by buying overpriced items. They tell you to not bring your camera and they take pics and videos along the way, but you pay $50 to have them digitally sent to you. It was an experience and I can say that I did it, but not one of my favorite excursions.
