Ride your horse around the San Rafael dam up into the high Andes mountains of La Calera. Enjoy a fun ride with spectacular views and lush forest vegetation. The horse trail goes along dirt roads and cobblestone pathways up into the mountains through a majestic Andean forest. Amazing scenery awaits!
Please Note:
Everyone joining this tour must wear a helmet in order to climb on the horse and keep it on at ALL times. Failure to wear a helmet is a safety violation and will cause the cancellation of the tour without refunds.
All last minute bookings (within 24 hours of departure) requesting a bilingual service will be accepted while we confirm the English-speaking guide availability. If we are unable to find a guide 12 hours before departure, the tour will be offered in Spanish only.

What To Expect
- Departure from Bogotá - Drive up through the Eastern Mountains to La Calera (1.5 hours) - Meet your local guide and set up for the ride (15 min) - Horseback riding through scenic mountain trails (1.5 hours) - Try out a home made "canelazo" or sugarcane tea (15 min) - Drive back to Bogotá (1.5 hours) This tour does NOT include time for lunch Please note: This is a group activity and you MAY or MAY NOT be joined by other travelers at any point during the tour. 5.00This horseback riding experience was INCREDIBLE. It was me and my friend’s first time in South America, and she was an avid rider as a child so this experience was very special for her. The weather could not have been more perfect! We got some tasty snacks on the trail of some type of grapes and the views were unbeatable. The hosts were very friendly and the horses had so much personality. Diego was a great translator and guide! Definitely a huge highlight of our trip.

5.00Our guide, Diego, was excellent and spoke English very well! We were picked up from our hotel and felt very safe and comfortable the entire time. Diego shared some of the history and interesting information about Bogota on our drive. I participated in this activity with my 12-year old daughter and she absolutely loved it. We went in June and it was a little chilly and rained a bit, so definitely recommend long sleeves and pants. Also, recommend shoes you don't mind getting muddy or dirty. The trail is in the Andes Mountains, so be prepared for some steep inclines ascending and descending, narrow paths, and rocky paths. But Diego helped us to go slowly so we felt comfortable, and the horses were very familiar with the path. The scenery was amazing! The only negative was that the guide took pictures during the trip, but did not share them with us afterward, so that would have been nice to have. Otherwise, we highly recommend the experience!

5.00It was a lot of fun and the views are unbeatable. Diego was so nice and very knowledgeable. The horses were beautiful and easy to ride. We learned a lot of the city and also La Calera. We got to try native fruits straight from the trees and saw a beautiful waterfall. It was an amazing experience. I highly recommend.

5.00The experience is great! It’s quite chill seeing the lake from the mountain and enjoying the pastoral scenery. The tour guide is also very nice. He introduced me some local plants and birds along the way.

5.00The experience was relaxing and comfortable. Heading up the mountain trails didn't lead to any particular destination, but the journey was what mattered. The horses were calm and the energy of the farm was tranquil. Our guide Diego was very patient and was a great help to a couple who accidently got on the wrong tour bus. He made sure we were safe on the horses and answered any questions we had. On top of the great relaxing experience, the team at Andes Ecotours helped us when one member of our party left his wallet on the bus. Couldn't more highly recommend the company.
