What To Expect
Colombia is known as the coffee country, well, we got much more history linked to the “green gold”. Emeralds are part of the selected group of precious stones and the 60% of them in the world are originally from Colombia. Become part of the Emerald legend, by creating a ring with your own hands. This tour starts by having an introduction about the importance of emeralds for precolonial and colonial culture. We will go through the emerald and jewelry district to learn about the history of the precious metals and stones and its influence in Colombian culture. We will take a look at the emerald market to see the different minerals and qualities. Then we will work on your new ring, where you will decide all! the design, the stone and material, by the personal advisory of a orfebre (jewelry master) who teaches you how to do every single step.

5.00Very informative before we got to the workshop. Juan is a fund of information. Loved the workshop. Carlos is a master ! but incredible approachable and humble We were guided throughout the process but did everything ourselves. The finished ring was perfect. I’d recommend the activity to anyone.

5.00This was such a good activity that really exceeded expectations. Our guide was prompt and communicated with us beforehand to make sure we knew where to go and where to find some ideas. Then he gave us an interesting history of jewellery in Bogotá and we got started at the workshop. He helped us pick stones and design our rings, then along with a couple of other professionals at the work shop we brought the designs to life. It was a really hands-on process with guidance and explanation every step of the way. All the materials were included but you could buy bigger/more emeralds for an additional cost. We felt really comfortable at the workshop and our rings came out better than I could’ve imagined.

5.00What fun! Definitely something different. We were two teenage boys, two adults. We had fun-- melting, designing, shaping, polishing-- our rings. We appreciated that the jewelers let us do much of the work, but were available and helpful as well. And patient! We all love our truly one of a kind souvenir. We all want to do it again.
