We met our chef, Maia, at the Traveler’s Nest bar. When other guests arrived, we all walked to the local market where Maia bought seafood for our paella. After some time to explore, we walked to Maia’s kitchen where she had set up different prep stations. She showed us how to make the paella step by step, including how to cut up the squid, shell and devein shrimp, cut up peppers, and remove the beard from mussels! Very instructive, yet fun. Then after rice and broth were added, guests enjoyed tapas and sangria until the paella was complete. We enjoyed a heaping plate of the paella we had made with our new friends! Maia shared the actual recipes for both paella and sangria, her grandmother’s recipe, with a QR code. This was a delightful evening that I would highly recommend!

It was an awesome experience. Milo was an excellent and interactive teacher, who answered all my questions. The market visit came with some historical context, which Milo provided with a local perspective. The sangria was great (and I don’t even like sangria). The paella was the best I’ve ever had. I highly recommend this class to anyone visiting Barcelona :)

Milo was amazing and we learned so much about the ingredients and process of making paella. Wonderful to have wine; sangria and non alcoholic drinks for the group. We had a fantastic time and the paella was delicious.
