Mezquita Cathedral de Cordoba
The Mosque of Córdoba was the biggest one in the world once all the extensions were concluded in the tenth century. More than 20,000 people could fit inside and it was declared World Heritage in 1984. All travelers who visited the Mosque were dazzled when they saw its beauty. You shouldn’t leave Córdoba without visiting its main touristic attraction! Its characteristic double arches and its impressive mihrab will leave you speechless. The monument houses multiple architectonical styles, which makes it unique in the world.
La Juderia
Every traveler visiting Córdoba shouldn’t leave without seeing the Jewish Quarter, one the symbols of the city. In this tour will talk of the history of the Jews, how they came to the Iberian Peninsula, called by them Sefarad, and how they reached very high status during the Caliphate of Córdoba. Know the story of impressive people that were born here like Maimónides, a genius of the twelve century. Visit the Synagogue and the Zoco, a traditional market. You will also get in touch with the Mudéjar style in the Chapel of Saint Bartholomew.

A fun and efficient way of learning about the major landmarks in the old part of Cordoba. Our guide was really pleasant and knowledgeable.

The guides are very knowledgeable and well worth listening to. Our main guide, Jaime, was fantastic: full of amazing historical anecdotes, fun, and thoughtful. Lola, another guide, helped him out by taking us through the Mezquita Cathedral. She is very informed and used good questions to make us notice architectural details and think why they might be there. An important suggestion for Lola: use the same kind of wire collar Jaime has, that keeps his microphone in place. Lola hand-held hers, but every time she gestured or moved her head to the side, her sound would cut out, and we literally missed half of everything she said, unfortunately. She could also hold up one of their orange umbrellas, as Jaime did (closed and folded), which is easier to see and follow in the dark cathedral than her raised hand.

Jaime was a wonderfully entertaining guide full of knowledge and able to make last minute adjustments to our itinerary very easily. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this tour as we felt that we had learnt so much from him in a short time.

The guide admitted at the end that he was tired because he was affected by the heat. This came through as he struggle at timez. Overall I think he had limited knowledge on the broader history of the period. He could not answer questions we thought he should know. He left us at the end without telling us where to find the exit. We had to ask him where we were and how to get back to where we started. It was close by but we felt he could have ended by showing us the way to get out.
