Changwoo was an awesome tour guide! He picked up our family of five at our hotel in Busan with his really nice KIA Carnival and showed us all the top sites in Busan, all in about four hours. Changwoo is highly knowledgeable and a delight to be around. Without him, we would have missed some of the most beautiful views of the city. He helped us better understand the history of the city. He accommodated our requests and even graciously coordinated with us when my mom left her purse in his car. We highly recommend this delightful man as your tour guide!

Wow, what a day. Busan was a surprise, so much more than we expected. First, our guide kindly met us in port as soon as we stepped out of the customs building after getting off our ship. We hopped in our guide’s very comfortable minivan with A/C and bottles of water at each seat. We began our tour to see the more modern part of Busan which is quite close to our cruise ship. We stepped out to take in some views of very tall modern picturesque buildings (to include the second tallest building in South Korea) and walked a short distance through a beautiful park full of colorful hydrangeas in bloom that led to a pristine beach. If you didn’t know to take this path, you wouldn’t know there was a beautiful beach there. Our guide gave us a few minutes to stroll while he went to get the vehicle and pick us up right by the beach. Next, we drove to a view point that overlooked the modern cityscape and hopped out for a photo. Our guide gave us Korean history and interesting facts along our drive and answered our many questions. We then briefly stopped by Gamcheon Culture Village to see the colorful village on the hill, favored by tourists, and to take a photo. Our guide shared some of Korean culture and we saw visitors passing by who had selected to dress up in formal Korean dress and walk the street full of shops and sweets. We hopped back in his vehicle again to visit the older part of Busan. Our guide made a quick stop at Choi Min-Shik Gallery so we could learn about a famous photographer who documented Koreans in 1960’s. We stopped again at another view point for a photo opportunity. We chose to end our tour with lunch at the Jagalchi fish market—with more than 700 indoor and outdoor stalls, and we invited our guide to dine with us. We love sampling food during our travels and this experience did not disappoint. We’re adventurous eaters and our guide enjoyed our interest. Everything we sampled that he selected was so delicious, we could not believe the assortment of banchan: accompaniments like kimchis and small bites, that came with the seafood we ordered. We appreciated the opportunity to pay for our lunch together as we learned so much having him join us. I would definitely recommend this tour and I would definitely return to South Korea again, what a friendly, modern, and beautiful city.
