I really enjoyed this Korean cooking experience . We walked around the market first buying some if the ingredients for our cooking class. We made short ribs with vegetables. It was delicious and he even had containers to bring your leftovers. We had lots of time to relax between preparing our food. It was a great experience from start to finish.

An amazing cooking class with a great teacher. The guide took us to the local market and told us about the things he was buying as we went along. When he learned one in our group is gluten intolerant he started pointing out restaurants and dishes that she could eat. We got many new tips for places to eat! When we made the booking he contacted us so we could choose what dishes to cook, and we we were able to choose a full gluten free menu. The cooking class itself was very fun. We got plenty of tips and tricks on how to cut our ingredients the best way, and interesting little facts about the food and ingredients. We had many laughs together, ate the food we cooked (and got so many leftovers), and left with a full belly and a happy heart! Would absolutely recommend booking this class!

I would highly recommend the Korean cooking course in Busan. The experience was exceptional from beginning to end. *Traditional Market Visit* One of the highlights of the course was the traditional market visit our teacher took us on. He explained in great detail the different ingredients and produce used in Korean cuisine, giving us a deeper understanding of the local food culture. *Cooking Traditional Dishes* After the market visit, we headed to the kitchen where we prepared several traditional Korean dishes. The teacher was very clear and patient in his explanations, allowing us to easily understand and replicate the recipes. The food we prepared was delicious, and we thoroughly enjoyed eating together. *Excellent Communication* One of my favorite things about the course was the teacher's excellent communication skills. He speaks perfect English, which made everything very easy to understand and follow. There were no language barriers that prevented us from learning and enjoying the course.

We joined this cooking class and were absolutely thrilled! The market tour through Busan’s largest food market was definitely a highlight. Our guide was incredibly friendly, shared so much knowledge about food, and even gave us great restaurant recommendations. After some short text exchanges we met up at Bujeon Market, which turned out to be our favorite Busan Market. Its vibrant and full of people, different types of food and colors. We walked along while getting the groceries, watching the locals shop and taking in the sights. All the while our guide/ cook was stopping every now and then to point out a good place to eat or an interesting tidbit. Afterwards it was two short stops by train to the kitchen. The atmosphere was very relaxed – we chatted not only about cuisine but also about history and many other topics. The cooking itself was a lot of fun. The dish turned out delicious, and we prepared so much that we even had leftovers to take with us for the next day. One small thing: we initially thought Banchan would also be part of the class, as that’s how we understood the description. That wasn’t the case, but we ended up buying some excellent Banchan at the market instead. Overall, it was a wonderful experience that we would highly recommend!

  • I highly recommend this class for beginners and Pros to learn Traditional Korean Cooking with take-home goodies.

As an experienced and trained cook, I take cooking classes when I travel to foreign lands to become better at cooking and learn more about the local cuisines and how they are prepared. For this trip to Busan, South Korea, we searched through TripAdvisor, and we landed on an amazing cooking class that said "vegan OK." The others didn't have vegan options. Being a vegan, I decided to give it a go. It was well worth it, and boy, did I make the right decision! We met up with Suyang at a metro stop, and he was right on time, found us quickly, and was patient while we got coffee and cash. Then we walked to the market for a tour. Suyang explained how the market worked and how to buy at the market, which is different than markets in the US. There was little haggling at the market; most items were sold at the same price, but the quality was good. Then we went to a private kitchen that was sized perfectly for our group. He uses various kitchens, depending on the group, to create the most compelling experience. He was very pleasant, answered all the questions we had as we walked around the market, and did not get annoyed even at my dumb questions once we started cooking. He explained everything step by step. I learned that eating raw eggplant is not the best for you! We had a menu of three dishes. We started with marinated cucumber salad in sesame sauce. The second dish was a salad with fried dumplings. He explained to us how and why you wash the vegetables in different ways than I typically do back home. We talked about the difference between organic and non-organic in South Korea. (To find out more about that, you need to take his class -- no secrets revealed here!) He taught me new ways of cutting vegetables, aside from the traditional American methods, and it was a great conversation throughout the cooking process. The techniques he taught us for frying, cutting, and mixing all had his unique spin and were tailored to make the best possible experience for those participating in the class. It was fun and delightful, and I not only learned how to cook the dishes in class but also how to combine different ingredients. He gave us time to taste what we wanted to, and we did not feel rushed at all. His English was fluent, and I would highly recommend this class to anyone.

We were hosted by Suyang Chang and enjoyed the cooking class. We visited a local market and sourced the most fresh cooking ingredients of the day. It's Marinated Abalone we learned and it is absolutely scrumptious. The recipe is easy to follow, but the result is surprisingly good. We love the marinated abalone and it is definitely ambrosial and glorious!

Cooking with Suyang is a must-do experience when visiting Busan. We learned a lot of new things and got to taste delicious dishes that we made ourselves—under Suyang’s detailed and friendly guidance. Depending on your preferences, you can choose what you’d like to cook: two banchan and one main dish. The class started with a visit to a local market, where we picked out some of the fresh ingredients for our recipes and sampled local treats, sweets, and even a traditional Korean milky rice wine. Afterwards, we took the subway one stop to the cooking studio. The workshop was held in a warm, welcoming atmosphere, and we were encouraged to ask questions throughout. We began with the side dishes, which we tasted right after cooking; the rest was neatly packed into takeaway containers. For the main dish, we made mini kimbaps—it turned out to be much easier than expected, and we received lots of helpful tips along the way. We left the class happy, full, and carrying bags of leftover food we couldn’t finish on the spot. The whole experience was fantastic—I highly recommend it for couples and families. It’s a fun and meaningful way to spend your time, combining Korean culture, cuisine, and hands-on cooking.
