We really had high hopes for this tour (we specifically selected the vegan tour), but for the cost which is exorbitant for 3 people when compared to the other tours we have done in Korea, this was a bit of a letdown. We did make 3 recipes which we are grateful to have attempted but they were quite basic. As a review of the experience, we met our guide at the train station, and he barely acknowledged us and walked towards the market. My husband had to ask him his name before he introduced himself. We just walked into the market with no information, told not to stop in front of vendors, and were not given much information about what we say. There was 0 "tour" energy here. We were also walked down an alley of the market that was only meat and aquariums, and I asked if there was a reason we were going down there as this was quite graphic (such as needing go through this alley to reach a vendor) and there was no reason. We were asked if we were 100% vegan which we are, and yet we were presented with fish-based kimchi for the kimchi pancakes which were advertised as vegan and which we had pre-selected. Importantly, the host is neither a chef nor a trained tour guide, which took us by surprise. A lot more information could have been provided on the significance of the meals we were preparing.

Starting off with the Market Tour, which really put into perspective how Koreans live and eat. It was very helpful to receive the information and see and smell what is sold at a Korean Market. Then to cook’s (Suyang) kitchen to make 2 appetizers and one entree. Loved the fried tofu with vegetables, and the egg and noodle pancake. Not so much the Kimchi, just by the shear fact I am not a fan! All was great, but I do feel $280 for 2 people is a bit overpriced.

Suyang was a great host. We first went to the market to buy fresh ingredients and explore the different foods that are sold there. We then returned to his kitchen to cook, cucumber kimchi, fried tofu with vegetables, and egg & noodle pancakes. We loved the relaxed pacing of the class and really enjoyed cooking these Korean dishes.

If you want an authentic and great food experience, I recommend this activity 😊 Our guide told us to call him “Uncle Busan,” which I thought was really cute. During the market tour he explained Korean food culture, and since my companion and I are vegan, he pointed us to vegan foods and warned us about dishes that looked vegan but weren’t. The market is bustling, so he told us to take photos of anything we wanted to ask about and later answered every last question. After the tour we took the subway to the cooking place. Uncle Busan showed us how to prepare the ingredients and then we cooked one meal at a time out of the three dishes we picked beforehand. After every meal we took a break to enjoy it before continuing to the next one, which made the experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. All three meals were delicious… or “mashisoyo” as Uncle Busan taught us hahaha 😄 At the end he gave us containers for leftovers and a nice welcome gift bag. I definitely recommend this experience!

We loved this class. Mr Chang was an amazing host, from pointing out Korean specialities in the market, delicious recipes and funny chat. We got to pick our menu in advance and had lots of leftovers to take home. A fantastic intro to Busan! Thank you ❤️

Suyang was a great guide for our class. The market was insane in its size and busyness but great to see. Our class was informative, relaxed and most importantly delicious.

We had such a wonderful experience with Mr. Chang during our Busan cooking class! He made us feel welcome right away and brought so much passion and warmth to the entire experience. The class was fun, easy to follow, and full of great cultural insights. The food turned out absolutely delicious, and it felt like a truly special, hands-on experience. Highly recommend if you’re visiting Busan. Thank you, Mr. Chang!

So friendly! We had a very fun time drinking soju and babbling about South Korean culture, Suyan (I believe that’s how it spelt) was an incredible host. If we’re ever in Korea, we will certainly go back!

We had a private cooking class just for two. Our cooking teacher Suyang gave us a market tour first and then we had cooked about 4h. The whole course was fun and a great Korean culture and history hour. If you are interested in korea has little idea or just want to have a fresh version of Korean food and culture is in great hands here.

I really enjoyed this Korean cooking experience . We walked around the market first buying some if the ingredients for our cooking class. We made short ribs with vegetables. It was delicious and he even had containers to bring your leftovers. We had lots of time to relax between preparing our food. It was a great experience from start to finish.
