In the cooler Florida months, bioluminescent Comb Jellies congregate in the protected waters of the Indian River Lagoon. Living in the most bio-diverse estuary in North America, Comb Jellies are clear, glob-like creatures that, despite their name, do not sting! So as you paddle the calm waters laced with mangroves and palm trees, you can catch and hold these gentle glowing creatures. They're right at your fingertips while having a safe, awe-inspiring kayak adventure with those who share your enthusiasm for new and unique experiences.
In addition to the stars, the myriad of protected wildlife around you, and the Comb Jelly’s bioluminescence, their “ribs” are lined with cilia that they use to propel themselves, so when you cast a flashlight on them just right, they’ll also refract a dynamic rainbow-y light show! They’re right at your fingertips while having a safe, awe-inspiring kayak adventure with those who share your enthusiasm for unique experiences.

It was a wonderful experience! We don’t speak English well, but Matthew was super friendly, he adapted to us and explained us well! We were lucky, we saw the bioluminescence and comb jellies, we were alone, the river was super quiet and we even had the chance to see a rocket departure from our Kayak, in the middle of the water! Thanks to Matthew for this great experience!

This is a legit review. Jorge was a really good lead and very informative. He explained the nature part of the tour in a very easy manner for people that do understand much English. If you ever want to go on this tour, I suggest you ask for JORGE. No one else.

Family of six adults and we all had an AMAZING time! We saw dolphins, manatees, a variety of fish, birds, and fantastic bioluminescence happening for us! We had a flat tire with our car rental so we arrived a little late, but Zoey and Janis (our guides) were waiting for us and took all our stress away! Our guides were super sweet, patient, knowledgeable, and helpful! We would definitely recommend this tour with A Day Away Kayak Tours! It's another level of a super amazing experience being out on the water in the dark! One of our favorite excursions while in Florida!

The kayak guide was nice and knowledgeable. He had a great sense of humor. We loved seeing and touching the comb jelly fish. This is our fifth kayak tour with this company. We love doing these kayak tours various times during the year with this company, and we’ll continue doing them.

Terrific. Beautiful location. Small dolphin we could see from the beach before we even got in a kayak. Chaz was chock-full of smart, funny, casual, thoughtful, curious details about what we were seeing. He loves the animals and plants in a passionate but comfortable way that welcomes you in. Bring binoculars to zoom in on the flamingos. And towels. We forgot those and made a mess of our rental car :)
