Legend has it that the temple was established by monk Gyoki during the Nara period, and it is designated as a cultural property of Fukuoka Prefecture, reflecting its historical importance. In summer, thousands of wind chimes are hung, creating a charming ambiance and representing wishes for a safe season. The wind chimes in the temple are sold for 500 yen and cannot be taken home. The wind chimes are decorated from June 1 to September 30 of every year.

5.00Very interesting temple and shrine with good shopping around the shops leading to the Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine. I found that it would be good to spend more time in the Shrine area and less time in Yufuin area. Tourguide Thomas was great in explaining the tour well and also very organized.
