What To Expect
Board your train in Kandy and begin your magical journey through rugged mountains, lush greenery, and pristine lakes. Find your seats in the first-class section of the train and settle in. As you ride to Ella, the train will first pass through a narrow ridge and misty green forests before reaching Highlands several rushing waterfalls. Continue through Nanuoya and small villages surrounding the beautiful countryside of Sri Lanka. Whilst you pass the luscious fields of tea to cross into Horton Plains, keeping an eye out for wildlife and glamorous settings. As enter your final stretch, enjoy the views of green rolling hills before pulling into Ella , a bustling town nestled in the Highlands of Sri Lanka. We advise travellers to have some flexibility when booking this activity due to High Demand some days might not be available. 1.00I was told that I would be picked up and taken to ambewala station since Kandy station wasn’t running due to damage from the cyclone. First, they told me pick up would be between 530-6am for a 930am train. Then, at the unreasonable hour of 11pm, the driver messages me he’ll now be coming at 5am instead. I only saw it bc I randomly woke io at 2am. Ambewala station was a 2.5-3 hour drive from Kandy where I was staying. This company did not send a car; they sent a tuktuk. The ride took over 4 hours bc it was in a tuk tuk. The ride itself was miserable. I tried to sleep but couldn’t because it was loud, all sorts of lights were filtering in, I was constantly smelling diesel fumes, and it was freezing due to wind created while the vehicle was in motion, the fact that we were increasing in elevation, and because the sun wasn’t up. On top of that, because tuk tuks are open air, I was forced to inhale road dust and fumes from other vehicles. This was a horrible experience. It’s clear the company does not care about customers.
Cannot wait to go there again!

Extremely poor experience with Ceylon Pass

1.00Extremely Disappointing Experience with Ceylon Pass I booked a train ticket with Ceylon Pass expecting a scenic train ride from Sigiriya to Ella. Unfortunately, due to extremely bad weather and cyclone Ditwha, the train was canceled, something no one can control. However, what could have been controlled was how the agency handled the situation. Ceylon Pass arranged an alternative shuttle service, but the organization was shockingly poor. In my case, the replacement route went from Kandy all the way down to Mirissa, and the problems started almost immediately. The vehicle wasn’t properly prepared for such a long journey, it didn’t even have FUEL. We were stranded for 3 hours on highly congested road, waiting to refill the tank. Because of this, what should have been a 5–6 hour trip turned into nearly 12 exhausting hours on the road. What made the experience even worse was the agency’s attitude. Throughout the entire ordeal, Ceylon Pass denied any responsibility, did not offer any kind of compensation or remedy, and didn’t even bother to apologize to the passengers. Didn't call once to check on us. Overall, this was a very negative and deeply disappointing experience. I cannot recommend Ceylon Pass based on how poorly they handled the situation and their lack of accountability toward customers. To be AVOIDED.

5.00Would recommend if you want a hassle free travel experience on the famous train .Communication was excellent .Arrived on time took us to the station ,told us the platform and even gave us snack bags Had the best seats We had loads of space for luggage .We could walk to front of train for pictures out of doors and windows no problem Worth the extra for first class seats as a long journey and could still get the atmosphere of the train contrary to what I had read before

5.00I recently took the First Class Scenic Train from Kandy to Ella, and it was amazing! The agent provided us with incredible seats, and they made booking super easy. Our driver was fantastic he helped us with our big luggage and brought us snacks along the way. The First Class cabin was not only spacious but also had nice air conditioning, making the ride comfortable. The views were breathtaking, and the whole experience felt so much more special compared to other classes. I highly recommend this trip! It’s the perfect way to soak in the beauty of Sri Lanka. Don’t miss it!
