Lake Ianthe is surrounded by hills and podocarp forests, with a large flax swamp at its southern end. The lake is home to a diverse array of wetland birds, including the endangered Great Crested Grebe, which has one of the largest populations in New Zealand.

4.00We were a small group and had a wonderful tour of Hokitika and enroute we had a lovely tree top walk stoppage which is highly recommended.As we had to catch the Tranzalpine our tour Guide swapped Hokitika Gorge for time at town.The Train journey is an absolute must
