Along the approach to the main shrine (haiden), there are 97 stone lanterns lined up, and the sight of the sunlight shining into the mossy green world is truly fantastical.

First of all, the tour got updated during the 2 months since I booked and had additional options that I was not aware of and was unable to choose. In the end, we got to do majority of what we wanted to do so it worked out. However didn't appreciate all the updates and changes that were made to the tour without my knowledge. Second, it was very chaotic meeting the tour group and guide at Hakata Station. So many other tour companies/groups which makes the area very congested and also had a hard time finding our guide within between the same tour group guides. After the chaos in the morning, everything else went smoothly. I appreciate the rest stop break to use the bathroom and get some food. Also the lunch break. The sites we visited were all great and beautiful. The guide Kaku was excellent. He gave thorough explanations regarding the history and significance of each site we visited. He gave us a clear timeline of our day and provided us recs on when to get food or use the bathroom and all. He also provided food recommendations which were great after the tour ended. Takachiho is just gorge-ous and the shrines we visited were just surreal. Recommend this tour and hope the tour company can help develop a less chaotic process in gathering the group for departure.

It was a great tour, Sun was a great guide! Very friendly and cheerful, taking care of all of us! The unfortunate side of trips when you want to see a lot - you don’t spend much time on each site. I didn’t mind that, and the three sites I saw were great! The gorge - I think it is worth taking the boat, but you would need to be good at it to avoid bumping into other boats. The food there (beef) was a nice experience and timely too. Generally the views are stunning there!! The volcano is also impressive - unless of course you have already seen volcanoes, then I guess it’s not do special. And finally the grass land - i was actually impressed by the tranquility of this place. Walked with horses there too - for me it was a best ending of the tour!!! For facts: it takes 3hrs to get to the locations from Fukuoka, and 1hr between gorge and volcano, so more than half of the time you will be on the bus. Sun, thank you!!

Everything went smoothly with the guide giving clear instructions on when and where to meet. The only downside was that because of the traveling time needed, we didn't really have much of a lunch break.

Interesting trivia, good english and comfortable bus. Beautiful scenery and good pacing at the different attractions. Taku was very nice and service oriented even when it starten rakning heavily! A little too little time at the attractions in comparison to the travel time, although that probably can't be avoided when going from Fukuoka.

I’ve a verification & a compliment to make. Let’s deal with the lapse first. When I went to report at my pick up point, I was shocked to learn that I was listed on the list of my Mount Aso Volcano guide. I already did that tour a day before. She was bewilded too. I then asked to switch to the group that’d doing the Kyushu Day Trip Miyazaki Takachiho Gorge and Shrine tour under guide Thomas(I’ll come to compliment him later). But obviously there was a mistake here. May I know why? Next, based on Thomas & his manager(in white shirt), Thomas’ group didn’t include a boat ride & beef lunch which I did select that option during the time of booking. Manager felt I didn’t select the option but I’d was dead sure I did & went searching for a soft copied proof which I found later(will post herewith). I showed it to Thomas. Still, guide Thomas confirmed his tour would not include the boat ride & beef lunch. I shared with 2 polish tour participants & they said they selected the same additionals too. I didn’t kick a fuss against Thomas becos it wasn’t his fault. Well, please explain what went wrong here. It’d a second mistake. I pre-paid for the boat ride & lunch. I don’t blame guide Thomas at all. Now about Thomas. He’s very competent in English & Mandarin. Responsible, very calm even though I repeatedly asked him about the missing inclusions. Very composed & dealt with me professionally. Incidentally, I respected him & understood it’d wasn’t his fault hence, never did I raise my voice on him. Thomas has great knowledge of the sights he was covering, patient & informative. This is what I called a good, competent guide(I try to give credit when it’s due & complain when something goes awfully wrong). I sincerely like to hear from the office what went wrong.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Thomas, who was our tour guide. He was knowledgeable, entertaining and good natured. He did a great job of keeping our group of 30 organized. Visited Takachiho Gorge, Amano Iwato Shrine and one other - all stunning with rich lore and beautiful scenery. Treated to the best ice cream ever at one of the stops. Some had Wagyu and Jidori for lunch, what the area is known for. Overall, a splendid day !!!

The forest was very humid and there are many stairs to climb. A reasonable level of fitness is required. Nothing was too much trouble for our very enthusiastic guide Roger.
