A full on day which included a lovely 3 course lunch. Our driver and guide was Dinesh, who was really lovely. First stop was the river safari. We had our own boat with a very knowledgeable guide. We saw fruit bats, cave bats, eagle, small crocodile, water monitor, monkeys, too much to mention. He took us to a small shaded area and chopped us pineapple and a coconut. Gem museum and mask carving were interesting. No hard sell either. Tsunami museum was solemn but interesting. The temple was amazing, a highlight (ladies cover shoulders and knees). Very beautiful and the guide provided us with offerings. The good Budda statue was huge, really impressive. Galle Fort we had about an hour to walk around, which was about right. Some good views from there. The stilt fishermen is more of a photo stop as the real fishermen do it very early or late in the day. Bet very cool to see, and our guide had paid them for our photo opportunity. In summary, we saw and learned a lot on the trip. 😁 Tory one to do. The travel agency BMT Sri Lanka were top. Messaged us with driver details, car etc. They were very professional and looked after us with plenty of cold drinking water, and a nice air conditioned car through the day. Would recommend this 100%

The trip really lasts the whole day. The best was the Bentota river and the "mask museum" and the temple wasn't a bad experience either. Pretty busy schedule. It would be good if the car had coffee or tea in thermos bottles and something to eat. A really good lunch was only in the afternoon before the Galle fort, which is so big and magnificent that there is no way there is enough time there.

We had a jam packed day on this trip- we had a wonderful time seeing and experiencing plenty without feeling rushed. It was great value for money! Dinesh picked us up on time and got us from place to place safely. We saw crocodiles, monkeys, monitors, frogs and plenty of birds on our boat safari and our guide was friendly with a great eye for wildlife. Best part was enjoying fresh coconut water in the mangroves with the crocs. We then visited a beautiful temple and had a tour, a mask factory and a turtle conservation centre. The gentleman working at the centre was so kind and radiated wonderful energy and I could tell he really cared about the animals. Mask factory was good for souvenir shopping. The tsunami museum was a really harrowing experience- held in a home damaged by the tsunami we were shown around by an amazing lady who survived the disaster. I won’t say too much but it’s a very human experience and she has a real and deep story to tell and an important message. Lunch was a buffet and was delicious and the restaurant was clean with friendly staff. We were given an hour and a half to explore Galle and this was enough time to do a loop of the fort and then last visited the stilt fisherman. Overall a great day- Recommend bringing enough money to souvenir shop and small notes to give donations to the various stops. They don’t ask for much and it definitely all helps. Thank you BTM!
