Kerala Sanguine Holidays delivered a great trip through this wonderful region of India. Our driver, Sumesh, was punctual, knowledgable, helpful and really accommodating throughout the journey. Two of us went together and each hotel/resort/boathouse was clean, comfortable and staffed by very welcoming hosts. We went from Kochi to Munnar to Thekkady to Alleppey and finally back to Kochi (5 days in total). Each stay was reasonably priced and even the optional extras (guided tours, boat trips, Safari, etc.) were good value for money. The best thing about travelling around Kerala is the quiet nature of almost every village/town/city. It is not as densely populated as some parts in the north of India so there is plenty of scope to walk around freely and enjoy your activities/tours without feeling overcrowded. Another great feature of this region is the cuisine. Superb at every location - be it the resort restaurant or the local options in the bigger towns. Cocount and seafood feature heavily in the diet here so if you're a fan of either then this is the place for you to visit. We must thank Nimisha and Sumesh for organising and executing such a great tour. She kept us updated regularly to check in on us and she was always available to help with activity bookings or questions we had. I would recommend this trip with Sanguine Holidays to anyone who wants to experience South India at their own leisure, with relaxing journeys and great food!

Nimisha and Sanguine holidays provided a wonderful 8 day experience. The holiday was entirely tailored to us as a couple and when our dates changed the new itinerary was prepared without any issue. The hotels we stayed in were very comfortable and two were from an eco-outfit: we were taken on guided walks. Our driver Achu could not have been more helpful and, between him and our schedule, we were given glimpses into Keralan life. As well as our houseboat experience, highlights were been guided round an organic spice farm by a professor - and then going zipwiring!!

I took a private tour with my partner in Kerala. We are from the US but are very familiar with India in general, although this was our first visit this far south. We started the tour by meeting our driver Anil. He was the constant friendly face and guide for the week. We really enjoyed his company. He was excellent. Clean cut, a careful driver and he cared about us. Anil took us to the Fragrant Nature hotel which was a significant drive from the airport. The hotel is a heritage hotel, which means that it was older but in beautiful condition and completely modernized. The room was clean, comfortable and well air conditioned. The bed was a little hard, but otherwise we had no complaints. The bar prices were a little steep, but that's common in this area. On our 2nd day we had a local guide. He was friendly but just didn't "get" us. We wanted to see temples, but he took us to churches. The high point of the tour was the outdoor laundry. We declined to enter most of the tourist trap locations he took us to. We don't want saris, perfumes, tourist spices etc... He also didn't offer to take our photos and such. He wasn't bad, he just wasn't a good fit for us. The tour ended with us being dropped off at a local restaurant where we bought our lunch. Later that afternoon we bumped into a tuk tuk driver, Niyas, who turned out to be an excellent guide. He took us to a real spice market and many other places. We loved his tour and I have reviewed this elsewhere. Sanguine is currently considering offering this tuk tuk tour as part of their offerings. It was great. After 2 nights in Fort Kochi, Anil took us to our houseboat adventure. This was a long drive, but Anil made sure we had breaks. We opted for a high end houseboat with on-request AC. It was great. Our pilot, Lijo and our cook, Anil (a different one) were so kind and great. Anil was a fantastic cook. He made us breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and just chatted with us. The houseboat was clean, well maintained and comfortable. I wouldnt recommend this tour for people who are not steady on their feet. To access the houseboat, you have to use a 10 inch wide plank, but we didn't have an issue with it. The scenery and sights will be with me forever. Definitely take the opportunity to extend the trip to tour the canals and to get tiger prawns from the fish market. The next day was another long drive to Thekkady. Anil (driver) gave us breaks and we chatted on the long trip. We stayed at the Blanket Days hotel (reviewed elsewhere). Nimisha from Sanguine scored us some boat tickets to see wild elephants. We saw a small family group of elephants. It was a long trip to get to the boat, and it was fun but very crowded. The next day, Anil took us to Munnar where we checked into another Blanket resort (reviewed elsewhere). We did a tea plantation tour and the we opted to take a jeep tour to see some sights and a close-up of wild elephants. It was a loooong drive, but the jeep driver was really great. We got back after dark, but it was well worth the trip. The next day we did a long hike up a local mountain. It was the high point of our trip (pun intended). We loved the guide and the scenery was mind blowing. The hike has optional difficulty levels and we chose to do the most challenging. This was a no-guardrails trek with plenty of risk, but high rewards. You can easily opt for something more gentle, but you only live once. Our guide was Raja. He was so knowledgeable and friendly. We really enjoyed his tour. The rest of the day we spent at the hotel relaxing and enjoying the numerous activities at the hotel. We loved this whole vacation. Some critical parts to remember... there are some long drives between different towns. Sometimes over 4 hours. A good driver is critical. Also, this is India. Be flexible and understanding when things go differently and always understand that tours that you take will have hidden extra costs. Nothing extreme, but just make sure you have plenty of rupees... We ran out of cash part way thru and had some challenges getting dollars changed to rupees. Foreign credit cards are often not accepted in small towns. If you like to drink beer, wine or spirits then tell your driver. Kerala has some weird rules about alcohol and even 5 Star hotels are often dry. Sanguine proved to be a great company to book through. Everything was lined up and well organized. Anil was the person who made sure that we were taken care of at every step, but Nimisha was easy to contact and she really cares about your vacation success.
