The Houseboat backwater programme has been designed for those who like to visit best canals in and around Aleppey. The main attraction of this trip is to have an experience of the best narrow canals, beautiful villages and village life of Aleppey.
About the boat -
This is one of the small private traditional boat used. Those who like the authentic traditional rice boat converted to a houseboat, this is the best example.
Open Country Boat Tour-
Another attraction is that we provide one hr open country boat to have an experience of very narrow canals where either the houseboat or shikkara boat used to make a trip.

Alleppey Backwaters
Arrival at boarding point by 1150hrs. Meet, receive and check in Houseboat at 12pm. Boat cruise from 1200hrs till 1730hrs with an hour lunch break. • Punnamada kayal – river famous for Nehru trophy boat race. • SNDP canal – one of the small canal in this trip. • Pamba river – almost 150ft width river. • Irumbanam Thod – best narrow canal. • Munnattumugam – Where three canals joints together making very attractive and beautiful place. 1330hrs Lunch at Meenappalli Kayal – small lake in the middle of Aleppey backwaters. Post lunch trip start at 1430hrs and continue till 1730hrs. Trip through some of the beautiful villages called Kainakari Village Venattukadu etc. 1530hrs to 1630hrs - Open boat narrow canal cruise - one of the best experience. At 1730hrs, houseboat finally halt for overnight stay. Once the houseboat halted, guest can walk around till the sun set. Evening Options and Activities - Fishing in the lake and backwaters. Kainakari is a small village in Aleppey. During your trip, you can experience local way of life as Kainakari is having many canals to connect with different places. Whether children going to school or locals go for a shopping, they need to use a public ferry service or a private water trasport like motor boat or canoe. All the se can witness during your through through Kainakari.
A small place on the banks of vembanadu lake where you can see many local shops, fish selling ladies, toddy shop and ayurvedic massage centers.
Kuttamangalam canal is a very narrow canal and famous among tourists where many local villages, paddy fields etc are located. The canal is very narrow and one need a small open boat to see this. Since many villages and paddy fields located here, you can experience an unforgettable Aleppey village experience. We have included 1hr open boat canal cruise thorugh Kuttamangalam in this trip.

Aleppey known as rice bowl of Kerala. Houseboat cruise through the diffierent canas in Aleppey where both sides you can see beautiful green carpeted paddy fields. This we can see from Oct till Feb end. Mar and Apr is harvesting season and these fields become golden colour.

Alleppey Backwaters
Day 2 : Aleppey. If the sky is clear, have a bed tea and you can enjoy a perfect sun rise from your houseboat. You can also choose a morning walk on the river side to see birds. Morning trip start at 0800hrs and it cover part of the biggest vembanadu lake. Before your houseboat trip ends at 9am they will provide authentic Kerala B/F. Check out from houseboat and Tour ends.

Premium boat : AC Bed room with wash room, living area cum dining, toiletries like towel, soap, one chef, driver & life saving equipments.
Activities during stay: Houseboat cruise, open country boat trip for an hour, village walk and local fishing.
Premium class: Boat classified as Dlx, Premium and Luxury. This is premium class service. AC available in bed room from 7pm to 6am.
Duration: 21 hours: Trip start at 12pm till 1730hrs with 1hr lunch break. Next day 8am to 9am.
Full board. : Welcome drink, Traditional Kerala lunch, Evening refreshments, Dinner and next day B/F. Veg, non veg, vegan etc available.
Cruise Alleppey backwaters.: Boat cruise through the canals and rivers in Alleppey. Kainakari village cruise, famous R Block & C Block is also covered.
Transportation.: Transportation is not required as this programme is in Houseboat.
Wooden traditional rice boat: This is a real old rice boat converted to a floating palace.

About Boat: Premium class boat, bed room including duet, top floor and sundec, AC in the night, wash room, towel, soap etc
Duration: 21 hours: Cruise from 12pm to 5.30pm with 1hr lunch break. No cruise from 6pm to 8am. Morning cruise from 8am to 9am.
Food: Start with welcome drink, authentic lunch, evening refreshments, next day breakfast and bottled mineral water.

4.00The houseboat we were on was new and in top condition. We had a captain, cook and deck hand. Boat was air conditioned and very comfortable. A few things that led to this not being a 5 star experience: 1) we started late 2) there was no village walk and no local fishing activity as mentioned in our tour description 3) water in sink and shower in bedroom would go off suddenly--we had to ask 3 times to turn on the water 4) When we docked for the night, the chef took us to a seafood shop 15vmeters away and asked us what we wanted for dinner--my wife chose a tiger prawn and I wanted fried fish. The only problem was that I was asked to fork out $17? If meals were included why was I being asked to pay for dinner entrees?? I did not pay to the dismay of the cook. Compared to the great lunch we had that day, dinner -- eh!

5.00We recently concluded our 21 hour houseboat tour through Alleppey’s serene canals and local life, and it was nothing short of splendid. After three exhausting days battling the traffic in Munnar, this experience was exactly the kind of relaxation we needed. The gentle pace of the backwaters, the calm surroundings, and the unhurried rhythm of life on the canals instantly put us at ease. The two-bedroom houseboat, which we had entirely to ourselves as a family of four, was spotlessly clean, cozy, and well maintained. Despite hearing several mentions about mosquito issues on houseboats, we were pleasantly surprised; not a single mosquito bite throughout the entire journey, which made the experience even more comfortable. The boarding process was exceptionally well organized. The houseboat owner ensured we were clearly informed about every step well in advance and stayed in constant touch on the morning of our cruise. They even coordinated directly with our local cab driver to ensure our arrival was smooth and stress-free. What truly stood out was the personal touch. They checked in with us beforehand to understand our food preferences. We mentioned our love for sardines, which aren’t always easy to find, and they thoughtfully made sure sardines were stocked just for us. The crew: comprising the captain, cook, and helper were all incredibly warm, courteous, and attentive. Every request was met with a smile, and their hospitality made us feel completely at home. Midway through our journey, we had the chance to stop at a local spot to purchase fresh crabs and shrimp. That evening, the cook transformed our fresh catch into a delicious dinner; one we’ll fondly remember for a long time. We opted for the one-day (21-hour) package, and honestly, it felt far too short. The experience left us longing for more time on the backwaters. We are already looking forward to our next visit and next time, it will definitely be a longer stay. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a peaceful, authentic, and well-curated backwater experience in Alleppey.

5.00We had a wonderful experience on the houseboat. Sree was exceptional and helped us with everything—from a last-minute booking to ensuring we had the best possible experience throughout our stay. The food was amazing and more than sufficient for all of us. The boat itself was excellent, and the backwaters were truly a beautiful and relaxing experience. Sree made sure we enjoyed every moment, and we’re very grateful for his attention and care. Highly recommended!

5.00This is really a 4.5 out of 5 — The food was amazing and the staff could not have been better. In fact, the cook was pulling double duty since the another staff member didn’t show up. The views and overall experience were fantastic. There are only two things I would suggest as improvements: They should have screens on the windows to prevent mosquitos from coming in the boat. Instead we had to close the windows at dusk even though the air outside felt wonderful and the air conditioning had an unpleasant odor. Also, there was no hot water so we had to take cold showers. Overall, for the price, this is definitely something I’d recommend to others.
