Kompong Phluk
Begin your adventure with pickup from your Siem Reap hotel for the journey to Kompong Phluk. Depending on the season, travel by minibus (February to July) or by minibus and boat (August to January). Transfer to a small boat and set sail along the lake, passing stilted houses and schools, floating markets, pagodas, and fishing boats as your guide tells you more about local life, customs, and traditions. Wet-season visitors can also opt to enjoy a traditional canoe ride around the flooded forests (for an additional expense) and experience the region’s unique ecosystem as you glide between the semi-submerged trees. Back in Siem Reap, your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel.

The experience started with a tour of the village. It was a surreal moment to see the houses and meet the villagers. Don't miss out on the mangrove boat experience for some spectacular sunset time. Thomas was great, he explains you well. Lovely times!

I would suggest this tour for everyone looking to complete their experience while in Siem Reap besides going on Angkor temples. Cambodian people are very welcoming, and we are happy to have experienced how those people live everyday in this village. The tour and guide was perfect, we really loved being there

This tour was amazing. Our guide Sam was so helpful, knowledgeable and caring. My mother is 82 and together we must have helped her up and down so many times :) We got to see all the village, dinner was fun, sunset perfect. Would recommend Sam and this tour to everyone.

The first thing I want to clarify is that the tour itself was fine - you get exactly what you pay for. You get a boat ride, an English tour guide (who my partner could not understand fully), a tour of the local village and a sit down at a restaurant to “view the sunset”, with an optional canoe ride (of course for an additional charge). I suspect all tours offer the exact same thing. However, this was the reality: a boat tour, a trip to the local “floating village” which was in fact on dry land because the “wet season” wasn’t quite wet enough, and then an hour and 10 minutes at an overpriced restaurant as we didn’t opt for the additional canoe ride. After we sat there for over an hour it started to get quite windy so we were evacuated from the restaurant and told we couldn’t go out onto the lake to watch the sunset because it was too dangerous (despite waiting over an hour at the restaurant to watch it). We then travelled back to the entrance with a total of 3 crashes along the way - nothing serious but if you are anxious on a boat (especially when it is rocky), it isn’t quite the confidence booster you need. On top of all of this the tour guide sat down next to us at the restaurant and asked us to leave a 5 star review or not to leave one at all. I am disgusted by this attitude. Although I understand reviews are importante for their business and therefore livelihood, they are also important for tourists to help make a booking. This really bothered me. Otherwise the service was fine, the tour guide tried to be charismatic and they give two free bottles of water (one on arrival, one on departure).

We had a very jovial and experienced tour guide called Bon. He was flexible to drop us near a restaurant where we can have our dinner. Thanks Bon 😊
