This was an absolutely incredible hike through The Knuckles Range in Sri Lanka’s spectacular hill country! My guide was wonderful - professional, knowledgeable and open - we moved at an appropriate pace through the range, as he pointed out various flora, fauna and features endemic to this fascinating region. I was visiting the country in the off season, so I was the only traveller hiking, which made this experience even more intimate. This is certainly not for the faint hearted - you definitely need a base level of fitness, come prepared to truly sweat, with all of the proper gear including a durable pair of hiking boots. I was exhausted by the end of it, but it was one of the best experiences of my life, to get to the summit of the range, and see the surroundings, is a moment I’ll remember for the rest of my life. A delicious traditional Sri Lankan lunch is included, and we stopped for a simple breakfast before the hike, and a much needed tea break at the end of it. I couldn’t recommend this experience enough!

We had a crappy weather when we did the tour on 1st Jan 2024 - it was raining the whole time in the jungle. However, we still had a fantastic time being out in the nature and hiking through the trail. The knuckles reserve is very clean, and well conserved. We saw lots of flowing waterfalls and walked through some of them as part of the trail. Our guide, Manju, was AMAZING! He put our safety as the no.1 priority and always observed where we put the feet on in case it’s slippery rocks.

The hike was unique, you can’t experience that on your own and Shyamal and his lovely driver were the perfect guide for it! First they took me to a coffee place were we also had some local food and after that they drove me to the starting point. We did a long but truly amazing hike with stunning nature and views. Shyamal explained the local plants and animals to me and let me try some of the fruits. After the lunch on top of the mountain we went to a waterfall and took a bath there, so make sure to bring swimming clothes. Then we went back were the driver picked us up and brought me home to my hostel. I would definitely recommend the tour because it was an unique experience in the nature and I had a great time!
