The site of Machu Picchu was extraordinary and our tour guide Hector was helpful, kind, and passionate about his heritage. Vipac was also extremely helpful with all the transfers and tickets. But my experience was completely overshadowed by the unpleasant and uncomfortable journey onboard PeruRail. The train had no heat during the 3 plus hours journey in 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Only lite chips and a granola bar available onboard (no food allowed inside the site) so unable to eat a full meal between the start of the train 0600 and the end of the tour at Aguascalientes about 1330. The staff onboard PeruRail also felt threatening when asking passengers for a review. I didn't feel that I could describe my day as happy, fun, or pleasant due to the train experience but I understand this aspect was not Vipac tours fault.

Although it’s a long day with a lot of travelling, it’s definitely worth it. The weather was not ideal, but the fog and cloud cleared for a an hour or so, just in time to get pictures. We were only in Machu Picchu for around 2 hours, and would recommend the circuit 2 option, which allows you to get a great picture at the top, but also allows you to go into the site. The tour guide was great, and took lots of photos for us.

The local vendor was terrible. They surprised us with a 3 1/2 hour bus ride. We ended up with virtually no time in Machu Picchu town. It was as if they were trying to ruin the experience for us. Our guide Paul up at the site was terrific. He saved this day from being a complete debacle.

All is can say is that I highly recommend everyone to experience this place at least once. So amazing, so historic, so beautiful. Such a work of art done by the indigenous people during that time.
