What To Expect
Paddle the warm, protected waters of the bay of Paraty on this guided kayak tour to tropical islands and deserted sandy beaches. The tour finishes with an unforgettable paddle through the mangrove, which is not accessible by boat. Your experienced English speaking guide will give paddling and safety instruction for double sea kayaks before you set out on the flat waters of the bay. The kayaks are specifically designed to go further with less effort! No previous kayaking experience is necessary for this tour. You will paddle past islands and stop at beaches for swimming, snorkeling, refreshments (not provided by Paraty Explorer) and relaxation. On the return you paddle through the mangrove full of bright red crabs, providing the tide is high enough. This is an active, fun tour for people who want to explore the bay of Paraty and escape the boat-tripping crowds.

As first-time kayakers, we really appreciated Paddy’s calm, knowledgeable guidance. 5.00Excellent guide Juliano very kind, clear in his explanations, speaking in almost perfect English and with whom we enjoyed discovering the beautiful bay of Paraty and the secrets of the mangrove in kayak Only downside: TripAdvisor error on the “meeting point” which is not up to date for 2 years and located on another beach nearly a km away!! And no one answers the contact call on the booking voucher Luckily Juliano waited for us 🤗 Thank you Juliano for this wonderful time

5.00This was a lovely trip and suitable for teens and adults . We went in double canoes that were very safe. We mainly paddled hugging the coast and then travelled though a mangrove. It was surreal and fascinating later we paddled to a restaurant for drinks and then back a different way. We all enjoyed it very much and our guide Juliano was very knowledgeable and fun. He spoke perfect English.

5.00We really enjoyed our kayaking experience with Michael. We kayaked in the bay stopping off at a lovely beach, an island where we had a light bite, and on our way back, via a mangrove. Michael was a great guide who gave technique tips for paddling and was knowledgeable about the local area and wildlife. 100% recommend.

5.00Great fun and Paulo our guide was excellent. The kayaking was exerting but not overly challenging. We always felt safe and in good hands and Paulo gave us useful info during the experience. I’d highly recommend these guys if you are staying in Paraty - it’s a great way to see some of the mangroves and beaches.

3.00It was our first time kayaking. It would have been a great trip because both the tour and the tour guide were otherwise excellent, but our kayak had a small hole near the right steering pedal that no one knew about. The result was that my area in the kayak gradually took on a lot of water that needed to be pumped out several times during the tour. Not knowing of the hole, the tour guide initially blamed my rowing technique for causing water to come into the kayak, which was VERY stressful as I tried to overcompensate even as I didn't know what I had done wrong. Eventually, as the kayak continued to take on water, the tour guide watched my technique and concluded that it wasn't me. So, when an opportunity came up, he examined the kayak, found the hole and improvised a plug (pieces from a styrofoam cup, I think) to plug the hole, significantly slowing the intake of water. As if that wasn't bad enough, the left steering pedal broke off during a max left turn while returning back to the beach. I didn't even get any pics. I tipped the tour guide because I didn't really blame him for what happened and he was great, including towing us for quite a bit of the way. Although incidences are probably rare, it seems that a good practice for tour operators would be to inspect each kayak before each use (at least for holes).
