We stayed in the beautiful Suite la Stalla, in the heart of the Sassi, rustic and overwhelming. In addition to being a wonderful accommodation for comfort and finishes also the location is great for sightseeing. Included in the package was a welcome drink and breakfast at Local MoVado located in Piazza Duomo: typical food and generous portions! In the afternoon we were accompanied by the guide Michele, very prepared and super passionate, to discover the park of the Murgia materana, among Tibetan bridges, aromatic herbs and wild plants, breathtaking landscapes and beautiful rock churches. Overall, these were two exciting and romantic days, made possible by the excellent organization of the Martulli Viaggi staff

We participated in the morning of mid-August in a guided tour in the Sassi of Matera, accompanied by a very valid and engaging guide, who introduced us to the history and peculiarities of the place. It was happily inevitable then to join the proposal of evening tour in the park of the Murge and the rock churches, which also allowed us to admire the beauty of the Sassi illuminated at sunset. Also in this case assisted by a competent and passionate guide. Congratulations also for the flexibility in organizing the evening tour despite a strong storm immediately preceding.

Claudio is an amazing guide, so friendly, thoughtful, and knowledgeable. The hike is amazing and there are so many cool things to see along the way - the Tibetan bridge, cave churches, local plants, the river, beautiful views os the Sassi, and more. Make sure to bring hiking shoes and water, this trip is a bit strenuous!

Thanks to the professionalism of Imma our Guide, and 'was a 'beautiful experience, we relived the history of Matera, its traditions, and the places where the farmers of the time lived. We did everything in a minibus and got off at the most important stages. Highly recommended

Claudio was a very experienced hiker and engaging tour guide. His grandparents lived in Matera and so he had some personal connection to the area. He took us down the gorge and across the bridge, up into the cave dwellings. We continued on into the stone churches and were able to see some original frescoes. At the very top, we had an amazing view of the city of Matera. This is an arduous climb and highly recommended to have proper footwear (I noticed some people in flip-flops! Sturdy shoes are best). Some scrambling involved. If you fear heights, I would not recommend. There are no guard rails, with the exception of the swinging bridge. Once at the top, you had the option of requesting a transport back to town, but we chose to go back the way we came. Bring water! You won’t get a view of Matera like this any other way.

Interesting and essential tour. We touch the main points of this beautiful city. The musical performance in the church of Sant'Antonio is very beautiful, where a man from Matera tells his story and performs the begging song. The guide Giuseppe is very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The afternoon tour is especially recommended to also enjoy the view of the illuminated city
